It would be foolish to trade dougie or even max!

Agreed, if you think Max will have one more great season and help get us to a W.S., by all means keep him. But you keep him with the knowledge that we probably can't afford him beyond 2014 if he has another great year. Unless you can get good, young pitching as part of a return deal, I'd keep Max and take our chances.

I think the Tanaka news (no posting agreement) makes Max that much more valuable. The Tigers are rich in power hitting and starting pitching, both highly coveted this offseason. I think they will get an offer for Max (Rangers, Nats, or Angels) they can't refuse.

Individual awards are nice.....but I'd swap them for a team award like World Series Champions.

Throwing another ''sort-of'' trade suggestion out. How about a blockbuster trade with the Angels that brings Detroit Howie Kendricks and Peter Bourjos. Tigers would have to give up Fister and probably Castellanos. If Bourjos returns to form, he'd be a good leadoff hitter, with Kendricks batting #2 or #6. Of course, this would no trade of Scherzer. With Kendrick's (and hopefully Bourjos) bat in the lineup....a trade of VMart would be a bigger possibility as well.

Just thinking outloud again.

Iffy, nice try but you are going in the wrong direction. Fister is as untouchable as Miggy or JV but for different reasons.

Stupid to trade Fister. He is affordable and has team control left.

Max may not be able to duplicate the season he just had, but will be paid as if he can. So I get why Detroit may have to trade him. Especially with Smyly looking solid.

I can't see Fister as untouchable. He's a better trade chip than Porcello, and Detroit has holes to fill. I am hoping the days of throwing money around like toilet paper are coming to an end....so you need to start trading from your strengths. For Detroit, that is starting pitching and DHs. I see Scherzer pitching for Detroit in 2014, so either Porcello or Fister could be traded....(opinion). Whomever Detroit cares to move, I hope it ends up adding defense and speed...something that Kendricks and Bourjos would add. That big outfield in Detroit cries out for speedy, defense oriented outfielders.

And that is why the Angels are interested in Fister. And, obviously, Scherzer's situation will dictate IF Fister or Porcello are traded.

Starting to get spoiled....Wish these days could last forever.

Im looking forward to the day where we congratulate a World Series MVP myself. Three STRAIGHT AL MVP Tigers is pretty damn great though. Now we just need Brad to lead us to the promised land. (Congratulations Miggy, you're still the best hitter in baseball!)

McCutchen is NL MVP......and to think the Tenn. Rabbits once ranked him right up there with Brennan Boesch.

Miggy MVP . favis should have been 2nd. how they think that trout is even worthyof 2nd?????

If Miggy wasn't hurt late.. he would have had 1 of the best seasons ever...( except HRs of course)

best and most feared hitter in the game!!

Congrats to miggy and max, well deserved.

Trout was second because he had a better season than davis and is clearly more valuable to the angels than davis is to the orioles.

Isn't it time for an off-season thread yet? I'm starting to get the feeling that the '14 lineup might look drastically different then '13.

Every time I turn around another Tiger is on the block! Sherzer, Fister, Porcello, and Prince.

Muzz....UM is 3 eyelashes short of a 4-6 record this year. I thought everyone said last season that Gardner was going to ignite the offense????? Any chance for the Wolverines to transfer to the MAC in a couple of years? I think a MAC division of EMU, WMU, CMU, and the Wolverines could be awesome. They probably couldn't threaten Northern Illinois or Toledo....but it would be a great state rivalry. Maybe the MAC could add Wayne State as well!
