That takes a load off my mind. What's Muzz's status on sharp objects? I know he has a bullet (or two or 60) with my name on it. As for Lions=sucks....I think his straight jacket should be enough.

I told you along time ago on the CBS boards, just knock on my door and find out my status. Nothing like getting rid of dead weight and not being charged for the crime....Gotta love TN state law.

Anyone think that Illitch OKs going hard after either Ellsbury or Choo? Maybe backload the contract, or at least pushing the signees 2014 money back and making up for it after VMarts contract is off the books. If they go after Ellsbury, they could also consider trading Jackson for prospects and saving some cash that way. Personally, I'd move Jackson to LF....but using him to land a decent prospect is not that bad an idea. And he may bring more in return than trading VMart...as some people suggest.

Looks like Ausmus is going to be the next Tigers manager. I must say that I am a bit surprised they would go with someone with so little experience, especially for a veteran team.

leyland deserved the right to leave when he wanted, but i agree i wish we had francona

I like the move. It was time for some newer, younger blood.

i and a few others have been on the Ausmus bandwagon fom the start. Teams are going for younger managers and mlb management experience is no longer required. Hiring a former catcher who is used to dealing with pitchers will help in the biggest area of need which is the pen. ausmus was the first choice of the Red Sox last season before they were able to trade to get their former PC from the Sox.

one thing is for sure. with Ausmus being of jewish descent we can scratch of a return of Delmon Young to the Tigers.

Very limited options for DD. There are no Terry Francona's out there. Dusty Baker ... with his reputation for not finishing and frustrating his fanbase? Lloyd McC ... well, I don't think anyone on here would favor that; we all know better. There are no obvious choices, so makes it a lot easier to justify a guy who could very well be the next great young manager. Ausmus has the background and make-up that MLB history says tends to be the best managers. it's a dice roll, but a good dice-roll given the alternatives.
