Wow.
And that is stupid. Lorenzen would be perfect. We need a #3 with some MLB experience in the playoffs. Maybe Harrison is like Bumgarner in 2010 but it's not the way to bet is it.Harrison will pitch in Sac this weekend and per FZ is "very close" to a debut. Giants had planned to have him in SF in July but his injury pushed him back a little bit.
This, more than anything else I believe, is why they didn't get Lorenzen or Cease.
Of course not, but we likely had to give up Harrison in the deal. And that is stupid. Lorenzen would be perfect. We need a #3 with some MLB experience in the playoffs. Maybe Harrison is like Bumgarner in 2010 but it's not the way to bet is it.
Not for him, no.Of course not, but we likely had to give up Harrison in the deal.
Exactly my point. Not for him, no.
No I meant we wouldn't have had to give up Harrison for LorenzenExactly my point.
You may be right here. It does seem the main impact players that moved were pitchers, and that's our strength and they clearly are leaning into the bullpen centric model.Look at every trade that got made and please tell me which one the Giants should have done. There were very few, if any, in my view.In some ways this is a nice vote of confidence in young players such as Matos, Luciano, Schmitt, Beck, Harrison, and Winn.
Seems like we are doing it wrong (Pollock doesn't belong on an ML roster anymore).I hear you, but I think it just depends upon return. If we get a piece that can't make the current ML roster, THEN I think we're doing it wrong.
Why the heck did FZ pull this trade? I don't care if the PTBNL is cash, this one is absolutely ridiculous. Mathias could be had on the waiver wire at least a couple times in the past year. Pollock, as other have pointed out, is horrible.BTW
the trade is officially Pollock and Mathias for a PTBNL.
The Pollock move is inexplicable but also harmless as long as he's sent down when their injured OFs get back (Yaz, Haniger, etc)Seems like we are doing it wrong (Pollock doesn't belong on an ML roster anymore).
Didn't Bumgarner look better in 2010, before his call up? Harrison's control is a bit worrying (maybe magnified in my mind with so many of the other rookies turning into pumpkins this year, at least the big ones). And that is stupid. Yes he did, that's my point. If they are thinking he's another 2010 Bumgarner I think they're mistakenDidn't Bumgarner look better in 2010, before his call up? But it is pointless. Bryce Johnson could hit for similar numbers to Pollock's 2023 production. The Pollock move is inexplicable but also harmless as long as he's sent down when their injured OFs get back (Yaz, Haniger, etc)
