The Mutts are getting 2 decent prospects in return (one of which is really good, I believe). Expensive “mistake” for the Mutts FO, but at least they are getting some baseball assets out of it.

The Mets seem to have unlimited money so they can do this. Load up, doesn't work, trade them away and pay half the salary for good prospects and load up again next year. Rinse and repeat, maybe you win

But a few years ago (‘21?) a bunch of Giants trades were ANNOUNCED after the deadline passed.

Looks like FZ didn't do a god damned thing. MLB TV was just saying "Giants didn't do anything, Reds didn't do anything..."

I was assuming as often happens that trades show up half an hour after the deadline all the time and they are in the sausage maker at the league offices.

That's what they've been doing because of all the injuries. Rookie catcher(s), SS/2B, CF, relievers playing every day
