While that is technically true really Revis is the highest dead money hit as he will most likely count $5 million against the Cap as they used that to keep his cap number low last season. Now yes he can be resigned but anything you sign him to you have to add that $5 million to it to get the real total of what he is making this upcoming season. If he decides to take his talents elsewhere well he is still getting paid $5 million by the Patriots this season no matter what.

Also with that article they seem to think all these players have no problem restructuring their contracts. Not every player is Tom Brady and wants to restructure unless they are pretty much promised that they are going to make more guaranteed money in the long run. Not sure with Wilfork and Mayo getting up in age and having the injury histories they do that you want to then be pushing money back to later years where they could be costing you once again to not even be on the roster. Quick way to get yourself in trouble.

Except for last year Wilfork has remained rather healthy and came on well as the season progressed. Mayo is one of those guys that just can't stay on the field, and they didn't miss him either. I think he's a likely casualty.

I say Mayo comes back but he will need to restructure. He still fits a needs as their best run stopping LB and for his leadership qualities.

I think they are looking at Collins for that role going forward.

I can see him being a casualty as well but honestly cutting him doesn't save you guys that much. I mean his dead money hit is bigger than his actual cap savings for this upcoming season which is why I can see them working hard to restructure with him. Honestly his injury this past season hurt you guys big time because otherwise he could be cut with closer to $8 million in savings compared to the $4 million that he would give you. Wilfork while he had a great season this past year is the one guy you can cut and not have a huge dead money hit while also getting some major cap relief. He alone could be what helps you resign McCourty. Really it could be a which one would you rather have of Wilfork or McCourty.

Wasn't there a Wilfork or Seymour a few years back?

Mayo wont be cut, as CD said, it wont save that much money. Plus where are you going to find someone of Mayo talent for that price? I say trade him to a team desperate at LB and see what you can get back in terms of a WR. Mayo for Marshall?? I can see him around. Morris will come of IR next yr and add some depth. Have to keep Vince for one more yr, NE just does not have the depth and talent on that DL to let him walk. If you want to save some money, let Ridley and Vereen walk. NE can also get a RB in the draft. Blount, Gaffney, who NE was going to take but Car picked before NE. White, Bolden, Gray. NE should draft OL in the draft this yr, then replace Solder and Dan Con next yr. Tag DMC till next yr and then sign him when some $$ frees up.

There was an he was a talented player for you guys that even after a decent season you let go. I could see the same with Wilfork this year in realizing he still has some football left in him but probably not at the price he is wanting.

Mayo will restructure.
Morris has not played yet so we don't know his value.
Solder is in his prime and playing well. Killed Baltimore!
Gaffney has not played yet.
White has not impressed me. Could get cut after preseason.
We do not know what we have in Gray yet.
Vereen is better off here than anywhere else. Don't over-pay.
Vince will have to restructure but we won't cut him if he does not (this year)
Collins would be wasted staying in the middle.
