The fact is we probably aren't going to "win" the trade. As good as Darvish can be he will be viewed as a rental and that will hurt our return. He should have been re-signed last offseason or traded at that point.

I fully expect to see him as a Dodger or National by Monday.

The history of the return for rental pitchers is not so good:

Rangers ability to evaluate players will decide if Yu Darvish trade is 'significant' or 'infamous'

Probably not going to get worthwhile future rotation help but could address our gap in CF.

Hitzges had the idea of the Rangers being proactive and tell each team what exactly they want from them in return Darvish. At least this way they can get the ball rolling, and the cards, initially, will be on the table.

I wonder if there isn't someone out there who could use a good defensive CF in Gomez, and a part time 1st baseman/DH/PH in Nap?

Now that's an excellent idea.
Not cheap being at a hotel close. But indoor pool, free breakfast and they had a free happy hour before they loaded us on the vans for the game.

I heard yesterday that a team or teams had inquired about Nap.

Since the break he's hit the ball well and with power. He'll be an asset for someone going down the stretch.

It's just unfortunate it won't be with us. But I accept this as fate and fact at this point of the season.

I'd like to see us pull off one of those "blockbuster deals" which has 2/3 players going away and 5/6/7 coming back.

Don't have anything in mind, but that sure would be exciting.

I actually kind of want to keep Cashner. I heard a rumor that he likes it here and actually would re-up. He's a Texan who wants to stay in Texas.

Since I live almost three hours away we always get a hotel room close. The one we went to last year had a shuttle service.

Part of the reason why I vetoed going to night. Tacking on the cost of a hotel to the cost of the game itself, it ended up being a bit too much.

Jeff Passan‏Verified account @JeffPassan 3m3 minutes ago
Sources: Yu Darvish was tipping his pitches in his last start. Goes a long way to explaining why he allowed 10 runs, the most in his career.

Two scouts and an executive said Marlins knew what was coming from Darvish. A slight pause with hands when he was throwing his fastball.

What the ...
Kinda doubt it. Yu is a smart seasoned pitcher that most likely would not make that kind of mistake
