Hurley’s success almost 100% hinges on getting LeBron buy in.

Now my question. Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I really like the idea of your team hiring a HC with zero NBA coaching experience?

If he does get the job I'd say good luck, but I wouldn't mean it.

He doesn't have NBA experience, but he's a great college coach, he's known for developing players and apparently Lebron really likes his offense.

I'd much rather they hire him than Reddick

It'll be interesting to see what happens. On Dan Patrick this morning, they were talking like it was practically a done deal based largely on it being a "Woj Bomb". They were saying that if Woj is saying it, it's probably farther along than just "targeting" him.

It's being said that they are preparing a "massive offer". I'm guessing that's what it'll take to get him.

Joe Mazzulla was on the Celtics bench before being named HC. Hurley has zero NBA coaching experience.

Still only had experience as a college coach pre bench coach and at much smaller school than Hurley

I think Hurley is fascinating. I heard him talk before about his mental health struggles trying to live up to his brother's status as a player, having people boo him in the Seton Hall building and chant, you're not Bobby, how down he was on himself as a human being when he was young--and I think he has immense drive and motivation as a result of those experiences. Enormous chip on his shoulder about wanting to achieve something for himself in life. He's now surpassed his famous coach dad and famous player/coach brother by a longshot, but he is not remotely satisfied and wants to be the GOAT. It's fascinating.

Sounds like exactly what the Lakers need.

Yeah, I do think the west coast fit is less ideal here. Knicks is probably his wet dream, based on where he grew up.

Is he really going to limit his options to the Knicks, Nets and Celtics? Two of those 3 have coaches locked in. The Nets are a bit of a dumpster fire.

Lakers have hired too many former players without any head coaching experience - Luke Walton and Darvin Ham for example. I like J.J but he would be just that again.

All head coaches have that first job. It's about the individual hire, not just the experience level.

He has publicly stated he has NBA interest. He wouldn't be flying to LA today to discuss a contract if he wasn't interested. Doesn't mean he signs, but the state of the NCAA is far from where it was for Dean and K.
