Hard no to a RB with a first round pick. Especially one with that bad of a combine. And I like Cook.

Combine isn't everything, as a RB combine doesn't show how good your vision is at all

Agreed but a 9th percentile athlete is BAD. And he's a great athlete on film but that has to worry you a little bit at least. Plus I just think a round 1 rb is a bad idea which is the main problem.

To me with cooks vision and straight
Line speed. He can hit a home run at any time

You may be right. And before the combine I agreed. But basically no successful rb ever has had that bad of a combine. It can't be ignored. His 3 cone was baaaaad

I'm sure Robert Kelley had one of the worst combines too, but he has shown flashes.
It's why we won't take a RB@17 and film is a better judge than speed at a combine

Yes but if we draft a rb at 17 and he's Robert kelley that's a huge waste of a pick.

Mixon is a beast, but only a hand full of teams have interviewed him and we aren't one of them. Makes me think he's not on our board, but you never know.

I concur. Just have a strong hunch we will get caught up in the unfortunate incident which will dampen his appeal. I just don't see us drafting Mixon. Don't see it.

None of these guys are as talented as mixon I'm tellin you now

Me and Sty have been Joe Mixon fans for a long time now. I was a fan from the first day I saw his high school highlights in 2014. Mixon was a 5 star recruit when he came to Oklahoma. He can hurt you running between the tackles, outside and can return KO's. He is a mismatch for the Def similar to Jordan Reed. Can't cover him with linebackers and most safeties, have to use a corner back who not only can cover but one that can tackle. Joe is by no means a small guy either. Here are few other stats to take note which shows how talented he is. Joe can return KO's. He not the best but he is no slouch either. He had 21 KO's last yr with and average of 23 yds and 1 TD. He also returned punts and threw one TD pass. He is a multi talented big back.

Everybody's a joe Mixon fan on the field. It's the off field stuff that's the problem.

I deff agree, this kid just knows how to play, but yeah I doubt we draft him because we aren't that smart.

Absolutely, I cannot say that I have followed him for as long as you have, however, as you know I began to notice Mixon while following the career of Samaje Perine another OU running back that when healthy will contribute to the right team. We both believe that Mixon is the best back in this draft, but I want your opinion about a theory that I have about Perine.

I believe that there is one player in this draft that is as close to an A.P. type stylistically and that's Perine. If his health holds up, how do you see him as the perfect replacement for Peterson in Minnesota?

While I agree that his off field issues are problematic, we have a long way to go in solving the equality question between men and women. Think about that for an instant, then answer this, had that incident involved Mixon and a guy would it have been as big as advertised?

Probably not. But I dont think thats a problem. And either way he was being an idiot/ahole.

I think its going to be very tough for Gruden to pass on Cook at #17. Especially when there is no guarantee that Mixon will be there for us in the 2nd. Plus if John Ross is there at #17 you know that Gruden is going to compare him to DJ and will want him over a defensive player.
