Cowboys will choke whether he is on the team or not. Choking without him is cheaper than choking with him.
If he was worth $18M+ to the Cowboys they'd be taking a different approach. He might be worth $20M to another team when he isn't worth $18M to the Cowboys, but he isn't going to be worth much more than that so the Draft compensation would be minimal. Is it worth the Cowboys holding on to him, guaranteeing him $20M, and then risking something unforeseen, (failed medical, change of mind, etc), just to gain a 6th or 7th round pick? The Cowboys could be stuck with an expensive player that everyone knows they didn't want to keep.I'm hoping they can trade him. He isn't worth his contract to Dallas TBH, but he can be had for 1 year $20M (guaranteed year 1) and then $20M per year afterwards with zero dead money for another team. Seems a good option for a team with cap space that needs a WR especially since they can get out after one year if they choose with no dead money.
Problem not solved:Resign Gallup and Cedrick Wilson for a fraction of what Cooper makes ( cap hit 22 million) and problem solved.
Lamb will be #1, heck he was your #1 last season. Gallup is coming off an injury, but Wilson can hold down the #2 spot for a few games until Micheal can go to a full Gallup.Problem not solved:
Gallup coming off major injury so who knows what we get.
Wilson, while a good receiver is definitely not a no. 1 maybe a no.2.
So you have to draft a no. 1 and we are to far down in the draft to get a no. 1 unless they trade up, and with zero cap room, that aint a good lookin option.
Good points, however Lamb as a no 1 is not the answer.Lamb will be #1, heck he was your #1 last season. Gallup is coming off an injury, but Wilson can hold down the #2 spot for a few games until Micheal can go to a full Gallup.
He did have some drops last season, but I think he can work on that, he's only had 2 seasons and should/hopefully builds on that.Good points, however Lamb as a no 1 is not the answer.
He has too many drops because he is scared to go over the middle, thus the drops.

They will get much more than a 7th round pick if they hold onto him. They'll obviously test the waters before the 20th and won't keep him unless they want him on the team or know they can move him. His talent is worth one year $20M to any team that needs a WR IMO. Like him or not he's a #1 WR talent. The Cowboys issue however is cap space and the fact that they still have 3 decent WRs if they let him go and resign the others. It's a matter of scarcity of resources and using that $20M in the best way possible to help the team compete and status quo for them isn't good enough IMO. Put him on the Colts, Jaguars or Jets who have tons of cap space and he is their best WR. If I'm those teams I'm all over Cooper. If he was worth $18M+ to the Cowboys they'd be taking a different approach. What he wants? Not sure I get that. He has a contract. If you trade for him you get that contract for at least one year. If he is cut and becomes a FA, no one knows what he would wantGood player but a little overpriced. Wouldn’t want to pay him what he wants
Too many drops for sure so far, but he is absolutely a #1. He has only played 2 seasons and was already the Cowboys #1 and doesn't get the targets some other teams #1's do. But his drops sure looked to me like a guy worried too much about trying to make things happen after the catch not at all a guy who is scared to go over the middle.Good points, however Lamb as a no 1 is not the answer.

Most sense? Cooper gets released and the Jets sign him 3/$57M/$40M Guaranteed
NO!Come to New England.. Injury prone or not he'd be #1 for sure
Final year under contract and was making $20m per season… You don’t think he would be asking for the same if not more regardless of where he ends up? And if he does get traded then he’ll immediately look to get extended. He’s 27 years old, about to turn 28. This is likely his last chance to maximize a big contract. What he wants? I haven't heard Coop is a locker room issue. There must be something about Cooper that teams don't like in terms of character or locker room fit, because he has produced like a #1 wideout yet now two teams want to get rid of him.
Maybe paying a running back huge money wasn't a good idea, Jerry?
