It's crazy that your draft position carries weight like it does for five years.

He's prolly been one of the best values in football this decade.

It also makes you wonder if Dak is texting Zeke side eyes emoji's and "really dude, now?" comments. Zeke still has $13M guaranteed over the next two years or something like that. Dak has made less in his career than Zeke will this year, and Zeke out there making it harder to fit Dak in this year. If we could do Dak and Cooper this year, Zeke next year, and fit Byron in there with what is left then things would be better.

It's hard for me to relate to these situations. We've all had coworkers who affect how much money is made. But I've never felt I made less because someone made more for themself. Or vice versa.

Zeke is a HOF talent, who has had himself some HOF numbers so far too. But when you look at it like you laid it out, that'd be a tough pill to swollow for Dak.

If Zeke doesn't get a deal, misses all of camp and preseason, but plays, would it bother you as a Cowboys fan? I ask because Barry never really was one for camp. Not because of contract hold outs, he just didn't do it. Lol

Could always go the Cousins route

Tag 1 32 million(estimate)
tag 2 38 million 120% of prior year
tag 3 55 million 144% of prior year

Did I miss a superbowl that he played in?
Fair questions seeing as a you are a Lions fan and have never actually watched a SuperBowl, but no, thus far his team has not been good enough to make a Super Bowl

but we all know there is gonna be a couple more QB contracts signed before the 2020 season which will put that # higher than as of right now.
I think it will probably end up in the 32, 33 mil. range.

Definitely higher than 26!
I'm not sure when they freeze it so I'm not sure how many of those contracts will count. Maybe after this league year ends or maybe once players become eligible for the tag?

If I were the Cowboys and idiot Cowboy fans were criticizing the team for not signing their stars immediately as if it's all the teams fault I would have announced this on the podium.
Reporter: "Why hasn't Dak signed yet"
The Jones boys: "Because he is asking for $40M and we don't think he should get $40M. Did I mention $40M?

Next (I only listened to the first 1:30 of the clip): I love the idea of Dak signing for 2 years and $63M, all guaranteed. I'd give that to him immediately (I'd go to $67M to put him between Wentz and RW). It protects the Cowboys long term if Dak isn't who they hope he is or if he gets injured and it sets Dak up for life and puts him in a position where if he does well he's getting a mega deal that dwarfs what he is asking for now. But I suspect Dak won't go for it. I can't say I blame him because no players do, but IMO it is the way to make the most money and if you stay healthy and believe in yourself you can back up the brinks truck as you are always near the top of the salary chart with short term deals.

No, as long as when he reports he is in shape and ready to go. If he reports let's say a week before week 1 and gets some time in with the OC learning the new wrinkles and is ready to play a full game I will welcome him back with open arms.

But I would have shut off talks the day he didn't report and wouldn't even speak to him until he does. If he misses even one game he becomes persona non grata. Some fans have this ridiculous idea that we owe him and that he is right to sit out because "the team would cut him if he were no longer good" and that's Bull Shit. It isn't his time and so that line of thinking is silly. He has two years under contract still. If every unhappy, spoiled star that felt they were underpaid held out two years before their contract ended we wouldn't have an NFL. So it's all on Zeke. I'm fine recognizing his protest and not hurting the team by missing anything important and high fiving him as he comes through the door, but the line where it isn't OK is close behind. Great player. Off the field issues keep recurring. Now holding out. There are some warning signs here.

I am not sure either.
but if it goes by avg per year
as of right now
Wilson 35
Big ben 34
Rodgers 33.5
Wentz 32
Ryan 30

So still dont see how someone thinks 26 mil will be the tag in 2020.

Interesting ESPN Segment:
I am not sure how much truth is in all of it but it was mentioned that the Wentz contract because urgent for the Eagles because they heard that Dak was going to ask for $37-$40 mil a year and they thought Jerry Jones was crazy enough to pay it...... I take that with a grain of salt though because I don't think Jerry is that stupid.

The segment goes on to say that the believe of three (Dak, Amari, Zeke) will be the odd man out because they just can't pay all 3 top dollar. The Franchise tag for QB's next year is going to be around $32 mil. The franchise tag for receives is going to be around $32 mil. The Franchise tag for RB's is only 11 mil and that may be why Zeke is holding out. Giving the salaries that will have to be paid he may feel he will be that odd man out.

Over the cap put out a projection a few months back. I am going to assume that the projection they put out was accurate at the time. Since the projection new deals have been made that increased what the cap will be. Given the site has the 2019 tag numbers I would say that projection came out when the 2019 numbers were made official.

I hope they do sign him for 40M. Less talent around him and then Zeke will have to go to a team like the Cardinals or Bills to get a big contract.

I'm not sure using the contract average is accurate. I think it is the current year portion only (including SB, RB, etc)?

A lot I'm not following
Which will be odd man out?
Franchise tag for WRs $32M?

I don't don't Philly wanted to get ahead of the QB curve, but that's quite a stretch and sounds more like something someone made up yesterday when the rumor came out about Dak wanting $40M.

Jerry is that stupid. Hopefully Stephen et al can keep him from going "full Jerry" on this one...

Oop...typo and too late to edit. Receivers franchise tag number is $17 mil if my math is right

From what I can tell each of the Cowboys current "Big 3" is going to want to be paid in the top 5 of their respective positions. Given the Cowboys current roster I can't see all three getting the money they want. I am not saying the Cowboys can't make it work I just can't see how. I am not a front office guy so I am merely speculating.

What is not being talked about is the defensive talent that will be coming up for new deal. The problem for the Cowboys isn't just the skill position players. They have done a great job in the draft and all of these guys now want to be paid. I can't recall a time where a team had so many very good players up for contracts at the same time.

If Zeke, Amari and Dak get their money the Cowboys will have 6 offensive players getting top 5 money at their position. Talk about a lot of coin.

It can't work . It's not possible . Not if they want to keep any of their defense anyway

I don't think so either. There just is not enough money to go around. They currently have the highest paid LT, C and G in the NFL. Dak's salary is going to be top 3 at a minimum. He will not take less than Wentz. Zeke is going to be the highest paid RB (That is if they cave). Then there is Amari's deal. They gave up a #1 for him so they are not going to let him walk so at a minimum he is franchised at $17 mil.

Can't keep everyone on offense if the want to have anything resembling an NFL defense.
