I am not sure either.
but if it goes by avg per year
as of right now
Wilson 35
Big ben 34
Rodgers 33.5
Wentz 32
Ryan 30

So still dont see how someone thinks 26 mil will be the tag in 2020.
its not that simple Its based over last 5 years and also the salary cap So dont know what it will be next year until the cap is determined

Franchise and transition tenders are calculated by adding the respective tag numbers, divided by the sum of the salary caps, from the previous five seasons, and finally multipled by the current season's salary cap. Franchise tag figures are based upon the top five salaries at each respective position, while transition tag figures are based on the top ten.

It can't work . It's not possible . Not if they want to keep any of their defense anyway
If they kick the can down the road like Philly is doing they can absolutely resign every key player. It will come back and haunt them, but it will be a few years before it happens. When I say key player I'm not including La'el Collins because they have backed him up via the draft and I don;'t consider him key unless Williams crashes and burns or T Smith has a major injury. They can also cut T Crawford and free up $8M in cap space next year. He is a good player for them, but not "key".

Personally I don't think they should resign everyone. I'm a fan of long term cap health, not going all in

I wouldn't say Philadelphia kicks the can down the rode. Their MO has always been to try and re-sign their young players well before they hit free agency to delays that good for both at the time of the deal but are also far less than one the player would get had their waited till they were a free agent.

That's why they have most of their core signed for the next few years.

This has never and more than likely will never happen. The Eagles have managed the cap the same way for as long as I can remember and are never in cap hell.

No, as long as when he reports he is in shape and ready to go. If he reports let's say a week before week 1 and gets some time in with the OC learning the new wrinkles and is ready to play a full game I will welcome him back with open arms.

But I would have shut off talks the day he didn't report and wouldn't even speak to him until he does. If he misses even one game he becomes persona non grata. Some fans have this ridiculous idea that we owe him and that he is right to sit out because "the team would cut him if he were no longer good" and that's Bull Shit. It isn't his time and so that line of thinking is silly. He has two years under contract still. If every unhappy, spoiled star that felt they were underpaid held out two years before their contract ended we wouldn't have an NFL. So it's all on Zeke. I'm fine recognizing his protest and not hurting the team by missing anything important and high fiving him as he comes through the door, but the line where it isn't OK is close behind. Great player. Off the field issues keep recurring. Now holding out. There are some warning signs here.
I gotta assume he's in excellent physical condition.

There are 3 different franchise tags teams can use

Exclusive Franchise Tag– This tag completely blocks a player from signing with another NFL team. It will be equal to the average of the top 5 salaries at the players position for the year or 120% of the players’ prior year salary. This number will be calculated at the end of the Restricted Free Agency period.

Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag– This is the most common tag that is applied in the NFL. The value is determined using five prior years of data to determine the percentage of the salary cap that a top 5 player at the position should occupy. This player can still negotiate with other teams but if they sign with another team the team that applied the tag has the option to match the contract or accept two first round draft picks as compensation.

Transition Tag– The Transition tag is calculated by using the top 10 salaries rather than top 5 salaries, which leads to a slightly lower cost than the Franchise tag. The player is again free to negotiate with other teams but his original team holds the right of first refusal on a contract. Because the difference in cost is minimal between this tag and the franchise tag this tag is rarely used.

no way Zeke gets tagged.
This was probably the difference between the discussions yesterday and QB being around $32M or $26M. Probably both were about right just using different tags. When I think QB I only think Exclusive.

If you are tagging guys, with a QB you have to use the exclusive rights tag, but if it's after this year and Dak has a poor year I guess that could change. I don't expect it to and I expect him to get more next year, but he has to produce. I still think he signs this year (although I have said from day one I think the team should wait). As far as Zeke goes, with a RB why would you use the exclusive tag. If a team wants to give up 2 first round picks plus the Cowboys can spend his $15M/year on another player, there isn't much of a dilemma even with a RB as good as Zeke.

Possibly...but only as part of a new deal. If he jeopardizes a $150M+ extension by playing the full season at $2M then he's too stupid to be a top QB for the future.
You know Dak and Zeke are two different people, right?
