The best point out of that novel(lol) is that Dak has to earn that salary in the playoffs. 1000% nail on the head to me. $55-60M should equal winning first round home games for any QB IMO
I can't disagree.

I love dak. Can't defend him when his contract says one thing and his playoff wins say another. MVP of the season is nice but if it is coupled with shit the bed playoff game, it doesn't mean a God damn thing to me to have that MVP quarterback for the season.

I still say it's a Jerry thing much more than a Prescott thing.

check those all-time playoff wins for a Dallas QB who didn't play under our first two head coaches.

The money Dak makes is not a solid argument.

The team tried to trade for both Lynch and Cook before drafting Dak.

They got lucky there. If Jerry had his way we would have traded for Lynch. Add that to Jerry wanting to draft Johnny Football instead of Zack Martin. Jerry can't help himself

It's borderline unfathomable why the team would consider extending Dak at this point. Mostly, you get what you deserve in life

?
Has Lawrence's play warranted $55m per?
I think if you want apples to apples, Dak's play did not warrant $40M per at the time his first contract expires. Lawrence is 24 years old. I think if he were 31 like Dak and still only had 2 playoff wins, that would be a different deal

i don't think so either.

the best WR in football got 35M per and the eagles throw 32.5M per to AJ Brown?
Every good number two in the league targets what Philly gave Smith.

it is how things in this league works.

I don't give too much credence to Fisher, but you can make up your own mind. Nothing groundbreaking here as, like I said, it sure seems the window of $52M to $55M is pretty much set. And again, if Dak doesn't care about money, let's see it be $45M. Otherwise stop with the BS and just admit you want every penny you can get just like the other QBs who signed.

If Dak takes a penny under $55M I'll take a month off from the Hoop. That's the absolute minimum he will accept right now. And it's only going up in the future. That's why this whole negotiation is maddening to me. If the Cowboys want to keep Dak, he was the runner up for MVP. Pay him. Months ago. But it's insane to not have a deal hammered out by now if they intend to keep him. If they wait till after the season and give him $58-60M per after $55M is the number now I will lose my mind

Mahomes: I'm not underpaid.
Smart kid playing the long game. Always works with the team. Knows he's great and will make he's money, but also understands that Rings is the reason Troy Aikman and soon Tom Brady make more in the booth than they did on the field. Romo makes a lot because he wore that Star his whole career. Dak should consider that too IMO

don't do that.

it's just the latest chapter in the book we've all been reading together for a very long time.

strange things indeed.
Man that's the surest thing I've ever posted though. I saw his first extension negotiation. I give Dak and his agent credit, they annihilated Jerry in negotiations. Got max money, a short term that would get them another deal after 4 years, no franchise tag, a no trade clause. They couldn't have bent Jerry over any farther. And they are set up to murder him even worse. Jerry has Trey Lance and a future draft pick as his back up plan SMH. Dak can walk after the season and the Cowboys get nothing but a comp pick. Dak will be the first in his prime MVP to hit the market in...ever? If he hits the open market and there is a bidding war, the number will be INSANE. The Cowboys know this so what are they waiting for if they want to keep him? He isn't taking $52M when there are 3 guys out there getting $55M, that's absolutely laughable. $55M at this (too late) point would be the best case scenario for them.

31 is no spring chicken and 35 is old. Just because Brady and some others played until much older doesn’t mean it’s the norm.

Yep. Dak is a good player. But he has always had a very talented roster. Maybe not as complete as the Niners, but he had Tyron, Zack, Fredrick, Zeke, Dez, Cole Beasley, Sean Lee...lots of talent. Last year he had Cee Dee Lamb, Tony Pollard, Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Ferguson, Micah, DLaw and Diggs till the injury. Every year we have had a talented team and ZERO playoff success. This season may be the worst overall roster we have had on a while and we are about to have to pay half the cap space we have to 3 players. The cast won't get better goong forward. It's hard to imagine Dak leading us farther in the playoffs

This from Adam Schefter...I'm confident Dak will get at least $60M per. It will be a number we haven't seen"
