I was listening to a podcast just now and they made am interesting point to me. The $14 Billion lawsuit the NFL just lost means every single team will have to pony up $450 Million each. Obviously the Cowboys are a team that can withstand that, but does that hit to their bottom line factor into why the Cowboys didn't get Dak and Lamb done in March so they could open up cap space if they were willing to spend the money. I think so
Reversed yesterday if y’all had not read it yet. NFL never loses big lawsuits with big money on the line. Appeal always works out in favor of the NFL. Good read

Another appeal or lawsuit is surely going to be filed

Dak ripping Jerry's ass today was warranted IMO. Jerry just can't shut his mouth

I was reading up on how an extension for Dak will look...on top of the $55M+ per year the Cowboys will owe him, on a four year extension they will have an additional cap hit of almost $13M per season for the signing bonus they have already paid him. So the average cap hit will come out to an average of $68M per season(provided the number is $55M). Now, they could have a lower cap hit than that the first season or two depending on structure, but anything saved early will be tacked on later. Bottom line, Jerry and Stephen have made a bigger mess of the way they have handled Dak's money than any Owner/QB in the history of the NFL
I am OK to move on just because of the cap hit. Don't care who thinks he's worth it. Team can't survive and be successful with him taking up that % of cap space. Just can't.

This is what happens when you have an 80 plus year old owner/GM. I am not sure this was a wise decision for a guy who tends to shrink against the best teams. This contract only puts more pressure on him and his ankle is not 100 percent. The Cowboys will field Dak, Diggs, Parsons, Lamb, and draft picks and veterans on the minimum over the next five years.

Just saw this. Not happy with the 4 years but it is what it is

@UK Cowboy was right on the amount although I guess we need to see the details. With that much guaranteed the details don't much matter because even that is $57M per

Wow that is not what I wanted to read about. Good for Dak getting paid and #@$& you Jerry for basically ruining any chance of getting to a SB by overpaying for a better than average QB.

Terrible Cap management by the Jones Mafia

The ONLY problem I have here is the same one we’ve all cussed & discussed over the years…

If you know you’re going to do this (and - we all know that Jerry knew this was the plan)… then do it in February.

Before the other QB deals are done.

Instead, they do what they always do. Wait until the market is set then react.

Oh well - Onward!!!

A good friend told me that Jerry does this intentionally to just keep the Cowboys in the news. I guess the free publicity is better than solid cap management. He is who he is. More focused on the team value and brand than winning. Cowboys worth more than $10 billion so you can’t know the business man but you can knock the GM.

I have no problem with Dak getting paid I always figured he would hoped not and the Cowboys being hamstrung cap wise but Jerry like you said has done what he always does be slow to getting things done & overpaying for no good reason other than being stupid.
If we overpaid by extending early I can excuse that for trying to be proactive but this is just stupid.

The fog thickens every year and Jerry just made it darker.

This clown show front office needs to move faster. Once again they over pay. But they had to do it so they were not rebuilding .

I swear Jerruh just stalls so the guys at ESPN and Fox Sports have something to talks about.

The next fiasco will be when they stall Parsons contract

Brother this is one time I wish I wasn't right. I love Dak, proud he's a Cowboy. I just don't know how we can ever win a Super Bowl giving him that kind of deal. Maybe if every draft is like this year's

That's the thing. If they were proactive in March, this number could have been $53-54. Waiting is ridiculous. It goes up by the day

Yeah it’s a tough decision.

Likely he wants the years and money.

If you don’t sign him, you have a lot of talent on this team and you are looking for a QB next year while picking in the 20’s. You pay him and it gives them a better chance for the next couple years. A top QB but like you said, he can’t put it altogether in the biggest games. Ownership is hoping he does.

I think whatever happens in the end it was the right decision.

hell...I just want this team to win playoffs games
better chance with #4
I agree with you on winning playoff games. Todays NFL is like investing in the stock market in the regard that you have to pair solid stocks that are paying good dividends with possible growth stocks you buy cheap and take a chance on hoping to grow and make you $$$$ and win big. The problem is when you decide to reinvest in the growth stocks you never know when they are going to take a dive for no good damn reason and your stuck until they even out or ya move along to a new growth stock because the performance was not what you paid for.
Better chance with #4 I just hope the reinvestment gives the Cowboys Berkshire Hathaway stock returns opposed to the latest Intel stock returns.
