this is somewhat correct. Dallas wants 5 years at 175 while Dak's camp whats a 4 year term. Dak's side said if you insist on 5 years then we want 45 for year #5 (185). Nothing new here, Dak wants another contract after 4 years when the new TV deal is in play. The cap is expected to be a shit load more in 4 years with that new TV deal. The salary cap in 2014 was 133 and in 2015 it was 143....that's right at 50M in 5 years and remains the main reason why this is headed towards the 11th hour. In 5 years the cap could very well be north of 250 and Dak at 35 will be a bargain

The cap goes up every year, problem is contracts are written salary wise in the current year, not 3 or 4 years down the road.

this makes zero sense....contracts remain all about the guaranteed $$
ie....Cooper's
IMO Coop too got too much, but his contract didn't top the highest paid WR, and he's easily cuttable after 2 seasons.

Fuck it pay Dak whatever he wants, but just het ready to trim top talent elsewhere on the roster.

We already went down this road with Romo's contract.

let me see if I have this correct. You said the cap goes up every year. Dak prefers 4 years at 35M (which is 3.5 more than what we'll pay him this year). Exactly how will this impact other players?

Keep in mind, this team hasn't won shit for a long ass time with or without massive dollars going to the QB.

I've seen this more years than not. Dak will be roasted this year by many with each interception and team loss

I'm saying nothing has changed contract negotiation wise since the put in the rookie contract rule. Dak who claims it's not about the money is negotiating as it's all about the money.

He says he'll bet on himself, well if thats not just words, then sign the tender yesterday. He want's a short contract, you can't get much shorter than a 1 yeat guaranteed contract. Sign the tender and see what Maholmes sets the next market at.

Not by me, I truly like Dak as the Dallas QB, I have an issue with his contract demands if whats reported is true.

Hell, for all I know the truth may be Dallas is lowballing him with the 27M deal from last season.

Fuck....give him 4 years at 140 and see if he plays well enough to get that next big contract.

also....I'd bet Dak is in camp when it's time to go to camp and not sit out a week before the seasons start
I agree that he won't sit out...I do worry about the change in terminology from one system to another and his limited time to learn a new playbook. I would worry about that if I were Dak playing on a FT as well

but McCarthy said he'll keep the terminology the team uses....something about it being easier for him to change instead of the team. Maybe it's me, but I don't think missing a few virtual meetings will be that huge in the grand scheme of things

he bet on himself last year when he made 2M. That was a huge risk, 31.5M not so much.
I seriously don't think he expects Mahomes money. I think he knows in 5 years, 35M will be low for a franchise QB if the cap is 250M plus.

I'm sorry Manster, I can't side with Jerry here, not when it's the most important position in football. Smart guy would give him 4 years IMO and get this shit behind him. Not Jerry....he likes to fuck shit up and he's had 25 years of experience doing just that

And he won a 105M payout. He needs to cash that lotto ticket.

perhaps....he certainly deserves more than wentz and Goff
Thats fair. Those contracts should be the starting point, I'm not sold he's earned more than Wilson at this point.
All that as I said earlier I wish Dallas gave in last year, and if he doesn't sign a new deal this season and plays on the Tag I hope he makes Jerry wish he gave in on the 4 year deal.

If Dak keeps betting on himself and wins, its means Dallas is winning.
