It is a business first. He just wants to get paid like all the other top QB's.
So 30M a year can't be lived on. Over 5 years that's 150M and after taxes that's still close to 100M. It isn't just business it comes back to greed

I call it a business decision. If you were in his shoes I'm sure you'd want the best deal you can get.

Dak will either get paid, sit out a year or force a trade. This is the new reality in the NFL.

I think that is a little unfair framing it like that because you can use the exact same scenario with $25M or even $20M or even $5M so it's not fair to single Dak out like that. It is not quite as simple as saying what can be "lived on". While, I do agree Dak is going for every penny here and don't think there is anything wrong with pointing that out, I don't have a problem with it per se' or think he is doing anything different than other players/people. That doesn't mean he isn't doing it of course or that the team just automatically is wrong or has to give in to what he wants. Both sides are equally playing a role in why there has been no deal IMO.

I guess I'm weird because I would want a deal that would insure that the team would be able to put quality teammates around me to provide protection and offensive support. If it meant taking less than contemporaries than so be it. I'm still going to have more money than I'll ever need

That is a good way of looking at the situation but a big contract is a pride thing with these athletes.

well if pride is more important than how you look than go for it. you'll never be considered elite because the team can't offer to put quality players around you. the cowboys will be forced to cut or trade or allow pieces to leave over the next few seasons just to cover.

An elite QB is going to get paid big bucks.

I agree but we don't agree on how much that should be. When you get into the exorbitrant amounts it is getting ridiculous.
Salaries are ridiculous and they have been for some time now.

I'm starting to think Dak's agent may not have his best interest in Dak. I heard a couple guys talking about this on local sports radio. They mentioned there will be a very good chance the cap goes down next season and perhaps in 2022 should covid19 take out this season or make teams play with no fans. The radio guys said it seems to them in light of this possibility, it would be wise to call the Cowboys and take their latest offer instead of grinding this out any longer. This seems plausible to me

This is possible. I think the offer would make Dak highest paid in NFL history. Dak being given bad advice from agent and I have thought this for awhile now. Romo took longer deals than this one and still got another huge deal. Dak should just sign. He in theory could hold out and it could end up hurting him.. he could play on the tag and get his knee hurt and miss out on lots of money.

It not like the cowboys are low balling Dak with the most recent offer.

How do you know?
so when it is negative about the Cowboys we are just supposed to believe it, but if positive ..... How do you know?
you are so predictable.

I think the cowboys think they are fine with 1 for 31.5M with a possible 2nd year at 37M moreso than 4 years at an average of 35M. Dak needs to understand this and sign the 5 year deal. I know I'm changing my opinion on this situation cause it's somewhat common sense based on the state of sports at this time. IMO, I think it would be smart if Dak changed his mind too.
