Not just brutal, I just feel they have the wrong intentions behind them.

I just have to hope there is more than we know about the Winfield cut, like with the cuts of Kellen Winslow last year and T.J. Houshmandzadeh in Pete's first season here.

I didn't really care for Winfield's play in the pre-season. He always seemed to be a step or two behind his man. In general he would make the tackle, but it always seemed to be a completion. I think he got his hand in there a few times to knock it away, but not as much as I thought he would. I think Thurmond and Lane can do the job.

Well I think Thurman can do a good job covering the slot receiver, but can you bank on him staying healthy? As for Lane, I think he does better covering the outside receiver, rather then the slot receiver. If nothing else Winfield provided a nice security blanket in case Thurman gets injured again. Just IMO.

or Maxwell. Don't recall Shead, Parker, Fenner or Simon much, but I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the corners. I think with Thurmond, Lane, and Maxwell, we have a good group of young guys who can play the type of aggressive fast defense they are looking for.

I guess it really comes down to me seeing Winfield get beat a bunch and not challenging his opposition.

I see reports the DTs Jaye Howard and Sealver Siliga appear to have been cut. Maybe the D-line is getting healthy? or they have their eye on a waiver claim.

I see nothing on Kearse although if Chris Harper really did make the team maybe Kearse is the odd man out?

Also probably the least surprising cut, it appears Brady Quinn has been released.

I would be completely dumbfounded if Harper made the team over Kearse. I felt like Kearse was challenging Baldwin considering the plays he made this pre-season. I don't see practice, so I can't really say what his work ethic and attention to detail are like.

Maybe M-Rob was cut so Tebow can come in and be Full Back and backup QB.....oh wait -Rob could do that too.

There are some cuts around the league that are head scratchers, so I guess we'll have to wait for official word from teams on all of these to find out why they made the decisions they made.

I'm not one to cheer for the Pats but I thoroughly enjoyed watching their defense utterly demolish Tebow in the playoffs a little while back.

Winfield didn't play the last two weeks, so that explains that.

That was a pre Robinson getting released article. I was really high on Ware when he was drafted, but I really don't feel he's earned a roster spot. Not that I object to him making the team, it's just that I think he may make it by default rather then earning it.

Isn't that the truth. Apparently some teams are counting on picking up players after the cuts. The GB backup QB position for example. and the WR position at San Fran.

DT Jaye Howard, FB Michael Robinson, QB Brady Quinn, CB Antoine Winfield.

Many are already speculating that SF will make a big move at Winfield.
