I think a lot of people undervalue Nash's ability to score just because he wasn't as aggressive.

Nash was capable of dropping 30 on any given night when the team needed him to. You guys don't remember the Mavs series where he averaged 30 ppg 12 ast 6.5 reb while shooting 55 % fg 42 % 3pt and 96 % ft!?

I like both players, but when it comes down to it, it all depends on what kind of team you are building. Can't go wrong with either one.

He was very efficient, he was one of the few players to ever make at least 50% of his FGA's. 40% of his 3-balls, and 90% of his FTA's. He did it 4-5 times during the course of his career.

But, he was a pass first PG and took his shots and points within the offense.

Curry's the better defender.
Nash is the better passer.
Curry's more athletic.
Nash has better court vision.
They're pretty equal in shooting the ball.

I'd take Nash because of the passing and court vision. But barely, because I like Curry's defense.

I wouldn't complain about having either on my team.

In fact, can I just have both?

Curry would be under-sized but he'd make a heck of a SG next to Nash.

Very similar players, but over the course of a career, I'd say Curry.

He hit his peak sooner and will be there for slightly longer.

Curry takes some of the worst shots I have ever seen from an NBA player. Contested pull up 3 pointer on a 1 on 3 fast break. Guy plays like a rec player. But he makes em.

Surprised that no one has posted numbers yet.
Nash in his prime:
18.6 ppg, 11.6 apg, 0.8 spg, 3.5 rpg
Curry this season:
23.8 ppg, 7.7 apg, 2.0. spg, 4.3 rpg

Nash is responsible for more points on the offensive end when you include assists with points, but Curry makes up for it with more possessions with better steals and rebounds.

Really, we're asking which league MVP would you prefer. You can't go wrong with either. Personally, I would take Curry by a hair because I put a high value on the defensive end as it becomes increasingly important in the playoffs, and I don't think anyone will argue Nash beats Curry there.

Should probably wait till careers are completed before making these comparisons.

Nash.

Let's see Curry keep this up for another 8-10 years and stay healthy.
The OP didn't mention longevity, it's kinda hard to predict that. I will say that Curry's prime is starting now and will continue for the next 3-4 years so we'll see if he can stay healthy and continue to play at the same level he has this year. He may even collect a ring or two in that time. I wonder what that would do to the argument?

Curry over Nash way over Cp3. Curry isn't quite the defensive liability Nash is. Cp3 is a historicaly good pg if you just looked at stats but he has to work way too hard to get anything in the playoffs

The thing about guys like Curry and Nash is they rely on skill, so they should be around for a while.

Unlike a guy like Westbrook. When he's done, he'll be done.

Come on...

It's easy to say Curry when his exploits are fresh in your minds.

But, Nash made EVERYONE better.

He should be getting 10% of what Joe Johnson and Amare got on their last deals because he fooled Atlanta/Knicks into believing those guys were Franchise players.

Curry is the better Scorer, Nash is the better pg.

Curry doesn't make his teamates better? Him being a better PG is obvious lol

Without Nash there is no Curry. With that being said: Curry lol

Yes, Im being very biased, I admit. I think people ARE underestimating the shooter Nah was BUT Im just really impressed by Curry because he's GS number #1 scorer. He opens it up for the other guys but that wont show up in the box score

When exactly did I say that?

You are ridiculously sensitive about any perceived slight against the Warriors.

But, I'll put it like this:

Curry making Draymond, Klay, Iggy better

or

Nash making Jared Dudey, Channing Frye look better

Which one is harder?

The original question was asking us to compare prime Nash versus Curry now. I think some have gotten confused. We're not comparing their entire careers. We've been asked to compare MVP form Nash versus MVP form Curry. It's a fair question.

The main thing that separates them is defense. Nash may have been a little more valuable on offense, but Curry is definitely more valuable on defense. Look at that last play from Game 2. If you replace Curry with Nash, I don't think Nash gets back on defense to help stymie Harden there.
