Would you take Steve in his prime over Curry in his current form?

Is this a serious question?

On a team with less to work with, having a Steve Nash enhances the entire team and automatically catapults them into a playoff contender.

On a team with pieces like Warriors, I'd take Steph.

What about CP3 in his prime?

Curry's the better defender.
Nash is the better passer.
Curry's more athletic.
Nash has better court vision.
They're pretty equal in shooting the ball.

I'd take Nash because of the passing and court vision. But barely, because I like Curry's defense.

I wouldn't complain about having either on my team.

In fact, can I just have both?

Curry is considerably better. He's more athletic, a better shooter(though nash was good), a better defender, arguably the best ball handler in the league, he's the total package. Nash was a better passer but that's about it, now if that's what you need for your team then maybe you want Nash, but no way was he a better basketball player than Curry is now.

Curry. It's not as close as you think. He's a better defender, close enough to Nash as a passer and a far better shooter. Yes, Nash had good shooting %s but Curry is just lethal from anywhere with any kind of shot. No one in the NBA can create his own shot and be as accurate as him. Spot up, catch and shoot, off dribble, cross guys up into a step back, doesn't matter. It's all buckets

Nash is way more of an actual point guard and just happened to shoot light out as well but never really forced his shot like Curry. Curry seems like he could be a 2 guard if he was a bit bigger. Nash was born to pass the ball. If we are talking PGs I take Nash. To me Curry is a SG stuck in a PGs body. Both have ridiculous handles as well.

As great as Nash was, Curry's the clear choice. Curry's shooting is something else. Also, Curry is an excellent defender, while Nash wasn't. Nash could never be the leader of the best defense in the league like Curry is with this season's Warriors team. Nash's passing abilities do not overcome these things, especially when he wasn't so good on the defensive end.

I think a lot of people undervalue Nash's ability to score just because he wasn't as aggressive.

Nash was capable of dropping 30 on any given night when the team needed him to. You guys don't remember the Mavs series where he averaged 30 ppg 12 ast 6.5 reb while shooting 55 % fg 42 % 3pt and 96 % ft!?

I like both players, but when it comes down to it, it all depends on what kind of team you are building. Can't go wrong with either one.

Nash. /end thread

Curry's great and fun to watch, but not at the level Nash was. Not yet at least.

It's easy to pick the current player in these questions because sometimes it's hard to remember how great recently retired players are, especially with the way Nash's career winded down.

Exactly. Nash in his prime was my all-time favorite player to watch on a night to night basis.

Reason I was thinking about this was the segment during the game where Steph was talking about how he models his game after Steve.

Fair point. At the same time I think people like to romanticize the past, even the recent past(not saying you, just a general statement.) Nash was one of my favorite players too, I loved watching that dude play and I was amazed by him often. I still say Curry is better at offense and defense.
