Frenchy's DFA clears room for Pagan to come back sometime next week.

I do not remember Le Grope getting hurt. Could this be another mystery illness to rotate guys in? If so, I would prefer that happen with Cainer. No need to continue trotting him out there. I would also like to continue testing Le Grope for a job next year.

With Kick coming back instead of Kamp, I am guessing the Gs feel he has worked on the specific items they wanted him to work on and want to see him in "real" games to gauge him for next year.

Classy move.

"Hey fellas, let's put Zito in the rotation. He's had a few bad outings, but he is throwing the ball well. His ERA in the last month is under 10.00, so he is making progress. We have paid him a ton of scratch, so we owe it to him to put him on the mound. Let's just see what he has left in the tank."

Just a reminder guys...

I am constantly updating the first post in this thread as roster changes occur. I am not JUST posting the roster moves.

Torres may need to go under the knife. Maybe his Giants career is over. Nice to open a slot. Unfortunately, we don't really have anyone kicking in the door to take a 40 spot.

Maybe Petit?

Cain to the 15-Day DL

Yusmeiro Petit added to the 40 and 25

This means we will need to clear another 40 spot when Pagan comes back. Tanaka is a prime candidate for that, as is Cain moving to the 60.

I don't think I'd do that. Not because it's not a good idea (it is) but I have read quotes from Cain (and Pence) saying that they want to go out and do battle - they don't care that they are out of it, they want to PLAY. Placing Cain on the 60-day would end the season for him.

I just don't think Cain has it in himto give up. I definitely think he'd have a huge problem going to the 60. Stranger things have happened though. :noidea:

Cain to the 60 wont happen. That was more of the video-game GM/fan in me speaking. Cain does not want to end the season on the DL. He wants to fight.

However, I want him on a VERY short leash. He needs to have very few stressful innings from here on out. We need him at 130% come 2014.

Wasn't a factual question, just a surprise question.

Any idea why Patty is still on the 15-day and not the 60-day? Guy has been out since July 21. I doubt he comes back to pitch this season.

No idea. There is no current crunch for 40-spots, so I would guess that they would prefer that he gets back to the game this season so he can cleanse the season from his pallet and so they can see him in action again.

I thought a DFA'd player had to wait 9 days to clear waivers, but apparently Frenchy was released on Saturday.

Dang. Think the Dodgers will still take him for Puig?

When a player is DFA'd, the team has up to 10 days to do something with the dude. The player can be : traded, released or, if he clears waivers, assigned to the minor leagues.

It was obvious that nobody was going to trade for him - not with the way he's played this year. Any team that wanted him would just wait until the Giants released him. So the Giants didn't bother to place him on waivers or wait to release him. (Frenchy has enough service time to refuse an assignment to the minors, so that wasn't going to happen.)
