Strickland was having a good year, but I have not noticed his name in quite a while. I wonder if he is TJ-bound?

He also has pitched in AA in the past and not had a lot of success, so I am not confident he had much of a future to begin with.

The kid in San Jose with the 0.86 ERA and the WHIP of .714?

Yeah, makes sense to keep Kontos around with his run an inning streak, and DFA the kid.

Giants claim Hunter Strickland - McCovey Chronicles

Strickland was a waiver claim at the beginning of this season. This was his third time through A+ minors (he was in AA last year). At this point in the season, he may make it through waivers.

Per Chris Cotillo, the Giants re-signed Heston:

Source confirms that the #SFGiants have re-signed Chris Heston after he elected free agency. Many teams were interested in him.

I don't understand how Heston could have "elected" free agency. It was the first time he has been DFA'd, and thus he supposedly doesn't have the choice of FA (unless the Giants placed him on non-revokable *release* waivers for some strange reason).

Arias activated from 15
Dunning sent to Fresno

Moscoso is not officially on any rosters yet, but he should be joining the big club tomorrow.

Kentsuke down, then, I suppose.

I just mentioned this in the trade thread. He would need to be DFA'd, though, right?

How do international FAs work in the options structure?

I think he'd be considered like a rookie...

I seem to remember something about IFAs of a certain age bypass the option rules, but I am not sure about that.

If he is "just a rookie", than he is certainly optioned, at least.

DFA options would be Pill, Tanaka, Runz, Adrianza and Kontos

I would think they'd be hesitant to DFA Adrianza and Kontos. Runz is more likely.

I agree. Adrianza is supposedly something EXTREMELY special with the glove, and he is still young (23).

Kontos, I think, earned enough rope last year to weather this years stumbles.

Pill, I think, would have too much trade-value to DFA.

Runz is a lefty who has received a lot of attention from other GMs in the past.

Tanaka, I think, killed his future with the team after his last game a few days ago. Extreme, but it isn't like he came in with a lot of cache to begin with.

I guess I haven't kept up in nicknames (exactly why I hate this whole "Stamos" crap) - is Kentsuke actually Tanaka? And where TF did "Kentsuke" come from?

His name is "Kensuke"

I am assuming that "Kentsuke" is a play on his given name with the name of Jeff Kent. Or maybe someone can't bother to spell correctly. :D

Ah. I never realized his full name was Kensuke Tanaka.
