Not a great accomplishment IMO when you have to consider who he is responsible to cover. When you have to cover the opposing team's third best receiver (Nelson, Hixon, Quick) when other two teammates have to cover the Cobb's, Nicks, and Amendola - life should become a bit easier for you in comparison to other starting CBs around the league. I wonder if PFF take these sort of things into consideration.

Like most CB's, Culliver is only noticed by the common fan when he is giving up the big play...

Of course its amplified through this board when people are waiting for that big play...

Just in case you haven't been paying attention this year, our CBs don't follow WRs around. When we have 3 CBs on the field, Culliver takes the guy who comes to the left side of the defense, Rogers takes the slot, and Brown takes the guy who comes to the right side of the defense. Every time. It doesn't matter which WR it is.

Ohhh Ok. So Chris Culliver is better than Champ, Hall, Sherman, Browner, Flowers, Winfield, etc. Sh8888, Peterson and Jenkins didn't even make the list. So by that stat alone Cully is better than them both.

1 Chris Culliver 493 17 3.45%
2 Leon Hall 507 19 3.75%
3 Sam Shields 342 14 4.09%
4 Prince Amukamara 434 18 4.15%
5 Casey Hayward 433 18 4.16%
6 Champ Bailey 586 25 4.27%
7 Adam Jones 414 18 4.35%
8 Antonio Cromartie 527 23 4.36%
9 Kareem Jackson 635 28 4.41%
10 Alterraun Verner 579 26 4.49%
11 Robert McClain 379 18 4.75%
12 Chris Houston 541 26 4.81%
13 Richard Sherman 590 29 4.92%
14 Brandon Browner 446 22 4.93%
15 Josh Wilson 658 33 5.02%
16 Brandon Flowers 436 22 5.05%
17 Chris Harris Jr. 493 25 5.07%
18 Antoine Winfield 609 31 5.09%
19 Kyle Wilson 511 27 5.28%
20 Asante Samuel 472 25 5.30%

Cully has had his share in the botch plays but has made some nice ones. But we all know the bad outweighs the good in crucial critical moments...

I still like him as our CB...

Just shows that the most important stat for judging a CB in the eyes of most people are the number of interceptions he has... kinda like how Rogers was seen as a bust in Washington because of his low INTs but was always a pretty decent cover guy. Got a bunch of INTs last year and now the media sings his praises.

Anyway, not bad for the nickel CB

Yes Bingo, this stat determines the best CB in the game. :wtf2::omg::hellno::gaah:

Or are you still disagreeing that he always lines up at LCB? I would think someone who watched him so closely this year, such as yourself, would know he was always on the same side.

But whatever, I really don't want to get into it with you over this again. You have a huge, completely unjustified hate for Culliver. To the point where you are saying I was against the drafting of Jenkins because I don't hate Culliver. Did you see Pozz posted the draft thread from last year, where I'm advocating trading our 2013 first round pick for a list of players, that includes Janoris Jenkins, after we drafted AJ in the first?

Bingo, how are you able to judge Culliver accurately (snap-by-snap, week-to-week) but appear to not know where he lines up and how often he's covering which receiver?

He is what they drafted him to be: an average 2nd/good 3rd CB. If he has the type of off-season training regiment that Brown has, he could end up being a little better, but not much. They will definitely have to sign/draft/trade for an elite shutdown CB in the next two years (fingers-crossed for this off-season).

I like where Cary Williams is ranked.

I love Chris Houston. Good numbers too.

I have high hopes for Culliver's future. I never really knew about him before the draft, but I like what I've seen from him.

The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on the condition of anonymity:

• “Take a look at the cornerbacks in this league. With (Darrelle) Revis and (Lardarius) Webb out, there are not any truly elite, shutdown corners. … One of the guys that does not get enough credit is Chris Culliver. He is not even starting for San Francisco, but when he is on the field, all he does is make plays. He has the swagger that is so important at that position. He is not afraid to cover anyone. He shut down Larry Fitzgerald on “Monday Night Football.” He’s extremely physical. He is one of the better tackling corners in the NFL right now."

culliver is good against the bigger wr's, but the quick and shifty ones seem to burn him

Solid stats, especially since he goes against the best wr alot of the time, the biggest ones too.

I for one think he would make a GREAT fs if he were to be switched, I wouldn't complain if he continued to play cb though.

The data shows he gave up 1.065 first/touch downs (17, but don't know the breakdown; I highly doubt it was 17 TD's and no first downs) a game. For the entire season. I'd say that's pretty fricking good, especially considering the offense has every advantage stacked in their favor.
