If it was Wellwood, Malkin, Kovalev, or some other lazy bitch I would be asking questions. But it's Crosby. I don't like him, I almost hate him, but he's one of the hardest working, grittiest team players in the league. All the players respect him as a captain and a leader. He gets the benefit of the doubt.

I get it, but if this is due to a setback then say that. Is that to much to ask as a fan

Yeah, i think you are.
Don't you think the main thing is that when he comes back he's absolutely 100%, and rested and ready for a playoff run?
A trip home after nothing but doctors could be just the thing to get him rejuvenated and refocused.

I agree, but an update when something like this is glossed over would be nice

If he need's a break so be it. He has earned it and I would want him healthy for the playoffs.

I heard the Penguins are going to fire Bylsma and bring in Mike Leach formerly of Texas Tech football to replace him. He will then proceed to lock Crosby in a dark storage closet to help with his concussion so he won't be going home after all.

How can you agrue with this logic? Look at all the Captains in the league that have set the precedence on going home to recoup from an injury when they were cleared to start working out. There has to be dozen of players :L

Crikey, Blysma even said in his presser that Sid was going to continue his light workout regimen while he visited his parents for a few days. I just don't see why this is such a big deal. Players need some mental rest at times too, and knowing the competitor Sid is, I'm sure he's going nuts with this situation.

Yep, cause players are never excused from games, practices etc... for personal reasons. Sorry but i fail to see the difference or why this is even an issue.

In my line of work a leader doesnt leave his troops like this. Maybe I expect more of a "leader" due to my line of work. I guess that looks to be the case since I am the only one with an issue with this. No biggie, not the first time my opinion differed from others.

Fair enough, i think the pens have a pretty good mix of other leaders to say what needs to be said and keep the team loose while he is away. I honestly doubt anyone in that organization has an issue with him going home. Jealousy, favoritism etc...

Certainly not trying to criticize your opinion, mine just happens to differ. Just for me personally, if I were on the team and my captain was having issues with health (and a LOT of these guys go through depression as well), I'd just want them to do what ever is best for them, because in the long run, that's what's best for the team. But like you said, just a differing of opinions.

Good idea. When he's done, could we borrow him so he can beat some health into Zetterberg's back with a golf club?

The way I see it, after his 25 game stretch of 2 points per, he can take 25 sick days before you should point your finger at anyone but Evgeni Malkin. Concussions suck. Hanging around the team and being in the locker room might not even be the best move for morale, and I'm pretty sure they have gyms in Nova Scotia. Let him go home.

I assume these discussions go something like this:

Dad Crosby: What do you think about your future in the NHL?
Son Crosby: A few more Stanley Cups.
Mom Crosby: How many Pork Chops?
Son Crosby: 2.
Dad Crosby: Pass the mash potatoes.
Son Crosby: Can I sleep at Mario's tonight?
Dad Crosby: Oooh! Me too!
Mom Crosby: :L
It's a boring house hold.

The way his season has gone, it's certainly easy to point fingers at Geno. He's so difficult to peg. I don't understand his actions 75% of the time. He's like a very talented kid, who does work hard, and does have the will to win...but there's some disconnect in his brain that makes him take stupid penalties (admirable to defend your teammates, but not for a tradeoff of a bunch of PPs), and makes him think it's him vs. the world out there. There were moments not long ago where we all thought this guy was the BEST IN THE LEAGUE. Where'd he go?! It's frustrating really...and if the postseason and into next season is anything like this season has been, the possibility of trade can't be over looked (although his stock will be low, and like Shero said, we'd never get the best player in that trade), because he's making as much money AS the best player in the league *this is my opinion, not fact*

Crosby is no Jay Cutler...I mean, you could fit two Crosbys inside Jay Cutler.

*****SPECIAL UPDATE*****

This photo was taken just a few days ago in Egypt. I think this explains quite a few things.
