Does any team hold on to those old college scouting reports like the Cowboys do? Year after year we have some of the the worst coaches and we somehow think we are the ones who will turn these guys around

At least we didn't give up a 4th for this one lol. It's like they are throwing darts in the Dart, just sign as many 1st and 2nd round busts as you can and hope one pans put

I would be shocked if Rico got $6M. If he comes in under $5M, I would be good with bringing him back and still drafting a rookie
I'd give Rico $10Mish over 2 years and play both of them. I might still draft a RB if one I loved was there but at least they wouldn't have to force it. They could do it if they felt the talent and value was there when they were on the clock like a draft should go. Right now we are still in desperation mode at RB.

RB and corner are definitely state of emergency. If we bring back Rico ro pair with Williams, a kid like Blue from Texas around round 5 would work for me. A kid that can take it to the house

I don't want him back. I want a rookie RB since we signed Williams.

And I just can't remember when one of those busts ever did anything. These dummies still are thinking quantity over quality. They could have brought Gholston back for what they signing two busts for. It's like the grasping at straws. They obviously learned nothing

That's 100% right. Spend the money they spent to bring back Lewis and Golston and if you're scared to spend more money, draft someone late or sign a UFA.

My problem with that is Williams was not good last year and they had some other guys who played better than him in the same situation and who were younger and less experienced who weren’t expected to be as good. A rookie is a crap shoot year one. So that could leave us even worse off than last year. But, if we hit on the draft pick then it works out great. This is what happens when you have so many holes and don’t fill them in free agency. You need to get lucky in the draft and there are only so many early round picks to fill them with.

Yeah Williams hasn't been the same player since his knee injury

It's all about the contract amount. If someone else wants to pay a guy more than he is worth, you wish him well with his new team and sign someone else instead. There is always another player out there
I just think this is the right approach. Osa was the closest must resign we had. Perhaps Turpin was #2.

Lewis at 10M per was too rich for this team.... same with Golston at 6. This is a 3rd place team with talent and holes. Dallas should be a bit shellshock about last year's injuries...filling position groups with guys who has played in the league seems understandable. New staff, coaches are like male dogs, and the team theme is competition. I'm certain coaches have talked at length which resulted in a group opinion/ direction. These small time moves like early signings of their three special teams' gems, Osa, Turpin, along with experienced veterans at positional needs competing for jobs. This team knows the holes, know the attitude desired, and have a plan. I like it, I prefer the staff see themselves as a contender...this motivates everyone.

IMO, additions at LB, corner and another Oline vet sure would be nice.
Will Hernandez?
Gilmore?
EJ Speed?

TRADE?

Here is my problem with it. Every time the coaching staff changes we assume they know the problems and will solve them and then a few years later we are thankful they too are finally gone. These are all nice moves for a team competing for a SB that knows it's season can be derailed by injury if they don't have a good backup in place or for a team that has already packed in the season and is looking to find some pieces to help build for the future while saving up cap space. Problem is I don't see the Cowboys as being in either of those groups. We haven't made the team better. We are not even close to competing for our own division let alone anything else. I've never seen so many high level DL available in one free agency season and we signed none of them. We signed two DL guys who will go into the season somewhere between roster bubble and game day bubble. They might have been the two worst run defending DL available in free agency. That's not how you build a winning football team in the NFL and certainly not when your problem for years has been stopping the run and the lack of a dominant inside defender.

It's not about needing a splash signing from a headline perspective. It's about needing better players to compete. We don't have them and we didn't sign any of them. There is no help in the draft because every other team gets to add draft picks as well, but they add them on top of their free agent signings

Meanwhile...Golston signs with the Giants. So just sure i have the tally right...we are missing Golston and JLew from last season plus Overshown to injury and possibly Diggs to start the season for the defense. On offense we are missing Cooks and we exchanged a back averaging 4.5 ypc for one at 3.7. Anytime they want to get serious, thr sooner thr better

I would prefer Jeanty and then if Blue is there in round five I do it. This would give them two dynamic weapons in the backfield. They can add defensive tackles in round 2 and 3. In the meantime they need to focus on WR and CB in FA. I am real high on Butler as a guy that can come in and start at CB opposite Bland. They still need a slot corner. maybe Carson learns how to play at the NFL level. I going to be pissy if these morons mess up Butler like they did with Charvarious Ward.. one of the dumbest trades they ever done

I like these two moves, especially Murray. An actual starting caliber LB. The Cowboys are staying on the cheap, but at least they are bringing in bodies so that they can draft whoever they want, and not reach because of a gaping hole. Glad to see that anyway

Kenneth Murray coming over from Titans. Good signing.
Dallas sending a 2025 6th round pick either #188 or #211 to Tennessee for Murray and 2025 7th round pick #237. going to cost us either $5.99M for 2025 or $7.14M
