Wow you're a moron. Briere has done absolutely nothing this season for us. He's a defensive liability, he isn't winning face offs, he constantly turns the puck over, he has 0 strength on the puck & today he decided to skate straight at one of the best goalies in the world and make no move on him during a penalty shot. He is not a #1 center here and with our influx of young talent is more then expendable. His playoff performance means nothing if he can't help the team get there and by his lack of effort lately he's shown he does;t care about playing hockey now.

Now to address the trade itself, not only do you get an extra 1.25m in cap space to help re-sign other key members of your team but you also get one of the best young d-men in the league. Now how can you justify keeping a 34 year old player on the downward slope over acquiring a found defensemen who;s a stud and just entering his primed oh and he's signed for 4 more years to a good cap hit. If you really see that as a bad deal then you need to go back and re-watch every Stanley Cup championship for the past 50 years and see that defense wins cups not over-payed, underachieving centers.
