this is true, @rmilia1. Game went back and forth until this play, very clutch throw by Troy. i think that's when it dawned on all of the country that the cowboys were gonna win that game.

I watched the game . Aikman played great that whole first SB run . Never said otherwise . I just said he never had to lead a team down the field and score late to win the game . Those Dallas teams clobbered everyone . That 10 point win over SF was ( I believe ) their closest game in any of those 3 playoffs . This is a controversial opinion thread so I don't expect people to agree with me . If o thought my opinion was in the majority I wouldn't have posted it here lol

sure, that's fine, your opinion and all, but aikman DID have to make a play when it mattered in that game, against a long-heralded opponent in San Francisco, IN San Fran's backyard no less, late in the 4th quarter. I'd say that was pretty damn clutch.

Wouldve impressed me more down 4 as opposed to being up 4 at the time but yes it was a great drive considering the Niners had just cut it from 11 to 4

Ultimately it's my opinion that 2/3 of the QBs from his era would've won 3 ( or more ) SBs with that roster . Nothing Aikman did in the playoffs was the primary reason Dallas ever won a SB and during the regular season he was mediocre . I watched every single Dallas playoff game he ever played and I never once thought "wow Aikman really saved them today " and if you're being honest you never thought that either

to be fair. An excellent Qb doesnt have to save the day for the team, say like a Favre who fucked up a lot & came back to save the day for a top team. they work in unisons.
But also to be fair. it is your opinion & this opinion is in the perfect thread (controversial) So I applaud you for that.

BTW if I may. As bad ass of a team the Cowboys had. Debartolo (sp) had an equally bad ass team & the Packers at the same time & the bills for that matter were no slouches. To continuously beat teams of that nature, maybe no other Qb ever gets to claim. No matter how great they are. the Niners & Cowboys IMO, are the reason the salary cap was started.
Do I think Aikman was as great as some are ranking. To be honest no.

Hell I could probably make a good argument for Rom oover Aikman & all Cowboy fans would hate me for it. Because ever one gets stuck on resume.
So as long as Brady is the greatest. Automatically Makes Aikman top 10.
