I got reported for being rude?!

:laugh3:

It's a football board! Suck it up buttercup!

Out of all of the responses we have ever given, THAT was one that was reported? :laugh3: Shit, that was pretty tame compared to many of the others.

That was some funny stuff wasn't it.

If SportsHoopla was a bar, the original post is what I'd ask the bar owners to make a plaque out of and put on the wall. Priceless.

Nobody cares what Midnight says at this point.

Anyhow, I embarrassed of this ridiculous thread. Seattle won and deserve respect for being the best team this year. Good, dominant victory.

You don't care what I think AND you agree with me?

Doesn't that mean you don't care what YOU think as well?

You can make excuses in every game for every team. This is a retarded thread by an upset 9er fan. Nothing more.

Nailed it. Beat Indy or Carolina at home and your not in that situation.

Really...... This thread sucks. Way to drag down 49er fans with this absurd bullshit. Do us all a favor and do your "woulda, should, coulda" game, on this thread idea. You "woulda, shoulda, coulda", not made this thread and you wouldn't look like an absolute douche.

Let’s not forget the luck involved in this championship run. Most notably the unnecessary roughness call on Ahmad Brook against the Saints during their week 11 match up. Not only did the unnecessary roughness call decided the game which the 49ers lost 20-23 but it also decided who was going to win the Superbowl.

Yeah, but the 49ers BENEFITED from some questionable officiating in their week one win against Green Bay. As I remember, the officials improperly enforced a penalty against the Packers AND Boldin got open on the gamewinning drive by pushing off.

In one close game, questionable officiating may have caused the 49ers to lose, and in another game, questionable officiating may have STOPPED the 49ers from losing.

Looks like a wash to me :noidea:

I for one think the OP makes a great point. A couple of bounces the other way and things turn out different. That pick six in Houston to tie it up at the end of the game comes to mind. We only beat the niners by a 1 game margin. Pretty close.

BUT, that was twice as big of a winning margin that the niners won the division with the year before. You lucky bastards got home field advantage instead of us and went to the Superbowl because of it. The only difference though is that we actually took advantage of those lucky bounces of the ball. So pout all you want, but maybe the Seahawks should have been in that Superbowl last year and not the niners, but either way, it wasn't to be. So suck it. CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 2 cents

Let’s not forget the luck involved in this championship run. Most notably the unnecessary roughness call on Ahmad Brook against the Saints during their week 11 match up. Not only did the unnecessary roughness call decided the game which the 49ers lost 20-23 but it also decided who was going to win the Superbowl.

One problem with this kind of reasoning is that ignores either muffed or questionable calls that favored the Niners during the season. For example, when the Hawks lost to the Niners in SF, Gore's 51 yard run late in the 4th was aided by the refs missing an otherwise clear holding penalty on Vernon Davis against Richard Sherman, who otherwise was in good position to have tackled Gore after the first ten yards. Call that penalty, and instead of the Niners being in field goal range for the win, they're 1st & 20 back at their own 20 yard line. Heck, even the next series, Kap keeps for a first down 3rd & 9, allowing the Niners to run three minutes off the clock before kicking a game-ending field goal-- and Kap didn't actually get that first down.

Would the Niners have been able to drive the field for the win anyway had they been 1st & 20 from their own 20 with five minutes left, rather already in FG range? Maybe, maybe not.

Would the Hawks have been able to drive into field goal range for a game-winning field goal, had they gotten the ball back with three minutes, as they should have? Maybe, maybe not.

And that's just one drive of one game-- forget about so many moments in so many games when officiating impacts the game. There's no objective way to determine what would have happened in a season should such and such a call, in such and such a game, been different. It's all just speculation, which itself is influenced by a natural bias towards one's favorite team etc.

Officiating will never be perfect. That's just the reality, and over the course of a season impacts every team without exception. In other words, teams that execute in the clutch, whatever is going on with the officiating, move on.

Oh, what a sad life one has to lead to give a backhanded congrats with a "but" and an absolute of San Fran winning the SB but for one call in one game. Is this Breaker's alter-ego? Anyway, there are so many really great 49er fans on here that I really enjoy posting with. You guys deserve better than this and I sure hope not too many people lump you in with this BS. Cheers to all you other San Fran fans for being classy. :suds:
