I was getting pretty annoyed at Smart's embellishments last night. Dude would get knocked over with a feather if it got him a call.

All part of the game.
Both teams had the same number of free throws.
Sixers had more shot attempts and less turnovers.

Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. He does that shit because it gets rewarded in the NBA. Look at the blatant Tatum push off on Maxey. If Maxey pulls a Marcus Smart and goes down like he was shot by a sniper from up in the rafters then that embarrasses the official into having to call that push off. Instead, Maxey plays basketball and keeps his feet and fights back to challenge the shot. Right or wrong Marcus Smart flops because he gets rewarded for those things. If players didn’t get rewarded for flopping then players wouldn’t do it. Embiid pulls the same shit to embarrass officials into blowing the whistle.

He's a chicken shit player. The refs know he is going to act like that and don't do anything about it. They let him flop flop flop all game. Any self respecting ref that also respected the game would let him get hit without protecting him with the whistle.

The bold seems to be that part that some of these folks don't grasp.

The defender just has to be in "legal guarding position", they do not have to be "set".

They can also be stationary or set and still be called for blocking.

In game 2 of Lakers/Warriors, there was a play where Lebron was completely stationary, got hit and was correctly called for a block because even though he was stationary, he was sideways to the offensive player and thus not in legal guarding position.
Smart wasn't guarding embiid. So no that doesn't work either. He was jumping in the way of a scoring offensive player with no attempt to play actual defense.

If you want to bitch, this is the one. Not a lot here for a playoff foul on a contest.

He grabbed the arm. Not that the ref saw that part of the play. He called a foul because it was time to ding the Sixers.

Except taking a charge is playing actual defense.

It is coached at every level of competitive basketball and is actually a better play for most players than trying to block a shot.

Which, by the way is also likely to result in a defensive foul when not executed perfectly.

No it’s not. It’s taking advantage of a loophole in the rules. The off ball help flop is the antithesis of actually playing defense.

Because they’re exploiting the rules.
Which, by the way is also likely to result in a defensive foul when not executed perfectly.
It also increases the likelihood of injury for both the offensive and defensive player.

Strongly disagree.

And you guys acting like it is a soft play is pretty hilarious.

You have to be willing to take solid contact from someone often very big to get that call.

Burden is on the Offense needs to be under control on those drives. Jump stop and make a good play.

Then they can’t take a charge.

I haven’t called it soft. I called it not really defense and dangerous for both the defender and offensive player.

Embiid has already gathered when Marcus Smart steps in. What’s he supposed to do after that? He can’t jump stop after he’s already gathered and picked up his dribble.
Then they can’t take a charge.

Sixers fans are allergic to facts.
