I haven’t called it soft. I called it not really defense and dangerous for both the defender and offensive player.

Embiid has already gathered when Marcus Smart steps in. What’s he supposed to do after that? He can’t jump stop after he’s already gathered and picked up his dribble.

I am not talking about that specific play.

That could have gone either way, but I lean toward block because I felt like Embiid side stepped and Smart slid over further and did not take the contact square enough.

Help defender charges keep the offense from attacking recklessly. They are needed.

Harden is 2nd (behind Bron) in 40 point games in the playoffs with 11. In the last 10 years.

KD is 3rd.

Giannis is 4th.

Strongly disagree.

And you guys acting like it is a soft play is pretty hilarious.

You have to be willing to take solid contact from someone often very big to get that call.

Burden is on the Offense needs to be under control on those drives. Jump stop and make a good play.

Then they can’t take a charge.
Hell yes

I took so many charges as a 6-3 center

I took one from an all state running back.

No one’s telling me it’s a soft play

Offensive players need to avoid contact as well.

He can pull up and shoot. He can pass.

He can’t run him over

Pretty simple

Contact doesn’t have to be square to be a charge

It’s just only usually called when it is.

I realize it isn’t that simple.

But my friend who was a college ref used to break it down like that.

If the defender takes the contact in the chest, it almost always means he got there first and was in legal guarding position.

If contact is more on the side, it usually means block.

Hey guys, sorry to bring some bandwagon logic into this group of obviously supremely knowledgeable basketball fans BUT...............there's no way the 76ers don't move on. Celtics battled back to get beat like THAT???? Knife in the heart. No chance, no way, for the C's.

p.s. just kidding about you guys being smart and all

For sure, it’s a good rule of thumb. Sometimes it just means they did a poor job avoiding contact

It’s definitely a good start though.

A lot of times they just won’t call it if it’s a charge and not in the chest…which also causes the frustration for everyone

Need somebody besides Embiid and Harden to step up tonight so I’m stepping out on this being a Tobias Harris game. I don’t know why Doc hasn’t used their scheme to get stuff for Tobias. A Tobias switch on a screen for Maxey gets him Derrick White to back down. If Tobias is aggressive and gets to his spot he can get you 15-20. Starters played big minutes again in an OT game in a series that has been every other day with no extra rest days.

I think Celtics win. I’m just wishin and hopin. Think the Sixers are back in Boston on Mother’s Day.
Me too. Assuming the heat close out the knicks by game 6, would be nice to get jimmy and the fellas another 3-4 day rest

Knicks have quit. Heat have stolen their heart. Think they close in 5.

Well this is some bad juju. The Celtics have completely owned the Sixers through the years. In fact, one could argue that without Celtic dominance the Sixers might actually have some history instead of momentary blips on the radar.

If you want to bitch, this is the one. Not a lot here for a playoff foul on a contest.

You see that shit all the time. Player falls but the defender does nothing wrong. I'm not sure why officials make this call a lot
