I messed up, my wife wanted me to rent a good family movie and suggested that title, but I came home with "Getting Some Tail".
you should have told it's often from those types of movies you end up with a family, so you weren't necessarily wrong

My late father-in-law, the prototypical Southern redneck with almost high school education only new one Canadian city when I first met him

Winnipeg.

No idea why, very certain he did not know of Manitoba and could not find it on a map, but damn, he knew Winnipeg.

He was an odd man.

He didn't even know the Capital, Toronto? Sheesh.

My BIL, huge hockey fan, when he met me knew that I was from Toronto and that Toronto was in Canada.

His first question to my wife after I had left, completely sincerely and innocently: "So is he a Canadiens fan?"

So, after signing Josh Morrissey, the Jets have a little under 15.5 million of cap space remaining to sign both Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine. That doesn't seem like enough to me.

Edit: The Morrisey contract doesn't kick in until next season, but still, it doesn't seem like enough.

Laine will be playing for Jokerit this year.

All the other RFAs face the same fate. Either sign with your current team or overseas-ya later

They had to trade one of these two (or Ehlers) the second they signed Blake Wheeler for $8.2 mil/year. I can’t imagine a scenario where that doesn’t happen.

Why isn't someone like Bergeron offer sheeting Laine or Connor? Winnipeg has a lot more troubles with the cap right now than Carolina did/does.

If you're going to go after top young forwards like Point and Aho, why not these two?

I think they were only willing to do it for a centre. They're pretty comfortable on the wings, especially if they can move Domi out there.

Nabbing an RFA C could've given them some combo of RFA C - Kotkaniemi - Danault down the middle which is actually pretty impressive if Kotka can take a leap and Suzuki cracks the roster. Throw in Suzuki maybe making the team either as another C option or at the wing and have an offensive option they can maybe move for a defensive upgrade after missing out on Gardiner and that's actually a pretty terrifying lineup.
