Also, puts in Nash and takes out Hannakeinen - who was the only forward to work all game in NJ. Plus we needed to draw in McQuaid and Harrington is NOT the guy who sits? Harrington turnovers have led to 3 goals in the last 3 games.

At least there's not going to be any pressure to make it out of the first round this year.

Boys hockey | Dublin Jerome wins in overtime, becomes first central Ohio team to reach state final

Meaningful hockey at Nationwide today. State Varsity championship, Dublin Jerome Celtics vs Cleveland St Ignatius Wildcats. St Iggy has won 3 straight, looking to be first to win 4 straight. Jerome is the first Central Ohio team to make the championship game, looking to bring the title to Central Ohio for the first time ever.

Dublin's goalie is a friend of my son's and has become sort of a coach for my son. His sister plays for my sons' team and since he usually drove her he comes on the ice and works with the goalies on my son's team.

This season he has a scarcely believable record of 26-2-1 and a GAA of 1.15. His save % os .948. And with his help, my son closed out his season 9 and 1 with a 2.59 GAA and .915 sv%

The state championship game didn't go as well as my son had hoped. Iggy won 7-2.

We wound up sitting with the coaches of 4 rival central Ohio schools. I learned something interesting. St Ignatius has 4 teams. Varsity A, Varsity B, JV and U14.

U14 plays an exhibition schedule. All freshmen.
JV plays JV, until state JV tourney, then Varsity B team becomes "JV". JV plays tourneys all year.
Varsity B plays the required number of games in Ohio High School competition at Varsity. Becomes JV at tourney time.
Varsity A plays against AAA, Preps like Culver and Shattuck and some preps in Canada. When state tourney time comes around, they play "regular" high school. The rostered players today have played one game in Ohio all season. Their annual rivalry game vs St Ed's Cleveland.

It was like watching an OHL team playing .Pretty shitty.

They're doing the same thing they do for other sports. Except they're the only ones (or one of) doing it in Ohio, while there are several in basketball and football. Plus, public schools have big turnouts for those sports, unlike hockey.

I didn't see the game last night, due to moving. I know they lost (blanked), but was it a really poor performance?

Need 2 points in this back to back, and need to win Friday.

My son's season ending banquet was last night, so I was only partially keeping an eye on it thanks to another dad who had his laptop. From what I saw (and have read this morning), they played strong for the last half to 45 minutes of the game but just couldn't solve Greiss.

And apparently, Torts brought out the line blender again near the end. But like I said I wasn't paying real close attention.
