"Johnson needs to recognize there are things he must do to make it work"

Yeah, play more like Mathieu Olivier, apparently.

Not worried about it. Dubois wasn't going to be happy anywhere and I give it six months before he asks out of LA. And Jones was great for us, he just didn't want to endure a rebuild and be paid what is now widely regarded as the worst contract in the league. I am glad we didn't pay it and we got a haul for him. I want him to stay forever because he a good kid and fun to watch. If he wants out, Vancouver can have him for two other CAA clients.

Kent Johnson demoted to the AHL today - Can a trade request be far off?

need we say how perfect Garland would be for Calgary @dash he is practically wearing the logo that fits there

Garland for Zadorov, he's showing too much piss and vinegar and ruffling too many feathers in Calgary.

Sophomore slumps are as much a part of hockey as pucks. I wouldn't be too worried about it. He honestly could have used it last year and Sillinger the year before. Same issue, both walked through ooponents at every level and things aren't coming as easy in this league as they have in the past - even though they had early success.

He needs a little confidence and to build a little strength. Let him rip it up down there for a while and have him bulk up in the offseason. It worked for Marchenko and Jiricek.

This is all true but does he feel the same way is the million dollar question.

The line in Elliotte’s recent blog sure read like a direct missive from management to show that they aren’t going to entertain anything and he needs to change his tone so that’s where they stand and they do have most of the leverage but man it seems like this management group sure does get themselves into these situations a lot.

We won't know how he feels until we hear it from him, and Friedman certainly doesn't seem to have much inside info around here. Probably less connected than Twatwaffle.

The issue, as the coach explains it, is the pace he plays with. He hasn't pointed to any issues with the message landing or Kent sulking, in fact they've both said that there need to be more. He's been given clear direction and knows what is expected. And with the influx of talent this year, they can get away with a shorter leash with any of them. He's got another level that he's not going to right now. He'll get there. Coach has the plan

Johnny has been pretty snakebit and last night was a pretty rough game for him. He turned the puck over on zone exit a few times. On the worst that led to a primo chance against, he didn't have any options and misjudged the speed of the Caps attack.

But to be fair, he is playing almost exclusively with Jenner and Roslovic. Jack's been playing as well as he can play, but the downside is it's as good as Jack can play. Jenner knows two things "go to net" and "go to net".

While I am in favor of pushing players, you have to look at the whole picture. Johnson got benched after a particularly bad turnover while trying to do something big. Punitive benching turns your bench into a bunch of guys afraid to take chances. And of course, every benching leads to all kinds of fluff about how so and so is gonna be traded, etc. which is just so exhausting.

Going back to KJ

Seems to be taking it well. Wondering if his previous agent had poor communication with the club and he felt it was hurting him.

In other Blue Jackets news: Big, angry Russian boy has 4 points 2g/2a) in 5 games.

His skating is still atrocious, but I like the instincts here. Good battle, creates turnover and goes to the net at the perfect time to disrupt the shot and get a piece of it.
