Does anybody else long for the days that every hard hit didn’t lead to a dumb ass fight?

I am a fan of fighting in hockey but this has been out of hand for years.

It used to be that if a guy hit you with a clean, hard check, you would take down his number and try to get him either later in the game or season. Now it instantly leads to a fight which I think it bush league.

/Also, I don't like the buzzing of the bench after a goal is scored. I think that started in junior hockey and has made its way to the NHL.

Used to also be a time when knuckle draggers like Marty McSorely and indeed ol' Dancin Tie up there existed solely to punch people who skated too close to a star. We surely don't wanna go back there.

The thing that sucked about Guri going after Sillinger was that Sillinger got 4 minutes while Gurianov only got 2. So even though the kid got jumped, we had the PK.

No we surely don't, but I don't know why a guy should have to fight because he laid a good, clean check on an opposing player. If it's a cheap shot, that's another story, but we've gone way too far the other way where any check seems to result in a fight. Take your lumps and suck it up and look for an opportunity later.

Those seats are usually corporate people so either they were still out on the concourse eating or sending that one final email before all the noise started. There's actually a picture floating around of a guy in a Stars jersey in the area and the seats around him are pretty sparse.

Had he yelled that from the upper deck, they wouldn't have found enough body to identify.
