That is the problem. The last time we had a "sane" third party candidate was Perot or Nader. The only way a different party can gain traction if they were grassroots from the local/state levels. Unfortunately, there is no funding because anyone that could fund a movement already has an ego and wants the instant gratification at the global level.

Then items like what happens in FL puts a black eye on any opportunity for a different party to grow. This is in reference to the major parties (namely the republican) funding a "phantom" 3rd party candidate with conveniently a name similar to the democratic candidate to purposely take votes from that person.


So in turn our country gets poor voting turn out and the status quo continues.

That's what's so frustrating is they simply refuse to do that. They just want to trot out a sacrificial lamb every 4 years and say "we didn't lose as bad as the last guy" as a statement and occasionally fuck things up enough to give us GWB.

If they got on local councils, school boards and state senate spots and improved people's lives in meaningful measurable ways, they could grow pretty solidly. Had they started that in the 90's, they could be viable now.
