A defense with Grossmann, Schenn, and Gudas on it would be viable in 2003, not 2015. Wonder if someone else is on the move.

I really thought that this was a joke when I first saw it.
Getting a 1st and a 3rd for Coburn is great return. Getting a player is nice.
Gudas is only signed for next season for less than 1mil. Even better long term cap management.

I think Hexy has come done hard on future over now.

I sort of thought this was a joke as well. But it is a what we are looking for and perhaps the rebuild is on.

overall we all agree that this was a good trade right?
Gudas hit is something super low like 1.5 million so maybe they just needed to make room and the guy is not going to bplay again this year (on a non playoff team)
I think his acquisition would maybe suggest that L Schenn or Grossman may be on the outs.

ya this is a good deal for sure. I don't love Gudas coming back, but at 900k for a year it's pretty hard to be too upset with it. And he's RFA, so if he by some chance does have a great year next year, the Flyers will have some leverage.

love the picks though. also love moving some salary.

would be amazing if they could move Grossmann and/or Schenn. Not going to hold my breathe on Schenn, but teams seem interested in Grossmann.

Gudas will have a cap hit of $992k next year and a $1.4 mil. salary, and also brings another RH shot to a D that needs them. Hopefully he can return to 100% from his current knee injury. He was hoping to be back for the playoffs.

I LOVE Radko Gudas - he's big and physical and is a bad dude

Also those first and third round picks are great

Flyers fleeced Tampa, quite frankly

This hasn't worked well for anyone in a while. I love that type of player too, but big, physical, and bad typically translates to slow and heavily penalized. Which isn't helpful. That being said, he's a decent 3rd pair guy and his contract situation is good/great. They have next year to see how he plays and they can 1. move him at the deadline 2. resign an RFA which keeps the number down or 3. let him walk.

I think I mentioned in a few threads ago, I love getting RFA's in the final year of their contract, a la, MDZ this season. So much flexibility.

He's a righty shot(which they need) and compared to Braydon Coburn, he actually plays to his size and is physical, which I like - and besides, he's young and eventually could replace Nicklas Grossmann in that role - I think every blue line needs a guy like that, the Kings have physical guys like that and it's worked out well for them

Now that we got Gudas he is the same type of player as Schenn. Hope he's next to go.

I think Grossman was too dinged up for anyone to take a runner on...anyone who could use him that is. I would not be surprised to see both traded leading up to the Draft.
