The United States Department of Health Human Services (HHS) has bought almost all the supply for the next three months of remdesivir, an experimental drug made by Gilead Sciences which showed encouraging preliminary results following a trial on a small group of very sick patients with COVID-19. The US secured the entire stock of the drug for July and 90% of stocks available for August and September.
