The additions yesterday were absolutely great. It addressed 2 of our biggest needs and we still have the draft coming up. I expect Urlacher to sign for 1 more year and the team taking a MLB early. I'm feeling a lot better about this team now than I was last week.

Yup. Still gotta boner.

Get a deal done with Lach, and I'll be even happier.

Jay Glazer quoted as saying he could easily see Urlacher elsewhere:( Come on Bears brass!!!!

WalterFootball.com: 2013 NFL Free Agent Grades

Bears sign OT Jermon Bushrod (5 years, $36M; $17.7M guaranteed): Z- Grade
I can't take this signing seriously, so I'm not grading it seriously either. The fact that the Bears think they're actually upgrading J'Marcus Webb at left tackle by obtaining Jermon Bushrod is an absolute joke. In fact, I really don't think the front office has watched a second of Bushrod's tape.

Bushrod allowed tons of pressures every week. The reason his sack total was so low was because Drew Brees released the ball so quickly. Bushrod's sack numbers will increase exponentially as he's trying to block for Jay Cutler. That means Cutler will likely miss multiple games due to injury yet again. The Bears would be better off with Webb manning the blind-side position again. I find it so ridiculous that an NFL front office would pay so much money to a pedestrian player.

Is that guy not a Bears fan? Cutler fan?? I'm sure OC Kromer has watched tape on Bushrod a few times. While I'm not sure about the price, the need was obvious. While Webb played better than he got credit for, he still sucks. I don't follow that page, but I think he's crazy.

We did overpay for Bushrod. That isn't a problem if our defense doesn't regress, because there is nothing wrong with spending an extra $5 Million to improve the biggest weakness on a potential Super Bowl team. The problem is that there is a very good chance the Briggs/Urlacher/Tillman/Peppers foursome is over the hill. While I think we have a lot of supporting pieces that will lead to a solid defense in the long term, we probably can't compete with the 49ers, Seahawks, Falcons, or Packers if the big four aren't elite players anymore. Spending millions above market value to make an 8-8 team go 10-6 is not a great investment.

I would expect us to focus on the D with the draft now that we have addressed to huge problems with the Offense

Briggs is still elite. Peppers is better than most ends, on one leg. Tillman had his best season ever, last year, and I think Urlacher is still better than serviceable. I wouldn't write off the D yet.

Bears lose Roach to the Raiders.

One would think they have to bring back Urlacher now, having lost both Hayes and Roach now.

I wish there was a way we could get Urlacher back for at least one more season. I hate to see him play anywhere else, it just won't be right, Not to mention what a pair of shoes to fill for any rookie . i dont think there is any free agent Linebackers who could do it either, nick roach was about the best alternate and he's gone now.

we have made some good moves though, brought in a proven LT and a really good tight end.

sup briggsy. nice to see ya.

ya, it seems like its draft or bust...I could accept the Urlacher deal better if they had a better Plan B.

Heck Kromer helped develope Bushrod! i can't believe people would be saying he is over paid. over paid is paying Pace when he was Clearly washed up. or paying Chris Williams 5,000,000 a season for playing like a woman.

Hows it going BD07? good to see you too. Yeah we have no plan B, and we don't even have a line up for linebackers right now. even if we drafted one we still have 3-4 LBs who have never started a game plus bring in a rookie? not looking good, we will have to bring in someone or else we can forget about a winning season of any kind, no doubt about it.

meanwhile other teams in the NFC are getting better , our line backer core was our most solid squad. we have a good front 4 and pretty decent secondary but without proven linebackers who can cover and tackle we are in real trouble.
