Nice job, Mota. I'll eat my crow. I thought he was going to blow the game wide open.

I've lost track. Not a horrible trade in terms of what we gave up, but horrible because we keep playing him. His contribution to the team is well below zero. I don't know much about Sabermetrics, but he has to have a negative WAR, right?

Probably. But advanced defensive stats don't rate errors that negatively, nor the context within which they occur. So, as with Fred Lewis, our eyes are better judges than WAR.

My eyes tell me that Cabrera's got nothing left. Poor range, poor glove. He's good for the occasional single, but that's it.

Pill got robbed there. Nice ability to fight off the inside pitch.

Hope someone asks why Stamos wasn't in the game - late.

What a poor job of game management all around :L......

Agreed. We had 7 guys reach base by hit, 3 by walk and 1 by error. Yet we only managed to score 1 run on a HR.

Terrible game management by Noggin today.

After the double, you really want to let Cain pitch to Guzman? Especially with three straight balls to begin the AB? Walk the bastage.

No pinch runner for Pill at 3rd and 1 out? Really?

After Huff's single to lead off the 8th, you really pinch hit for Christian, and don't bunt or hit and run? What the hell do we have speed for if we aren't going to use it?

And no putting Stamos in during the 8th or 9th for defense? OCrap with the unforgivable error?!?

Padres may be a bad team, but they seem to be managed well by Black. We keep blowing every chance we get.

From Baggs:

When Brett Pill homered in the fifth inning, he became the 22nd player in major league history (or since 1919, at least) to go deep in each of his first two big league games. Only one other Giant is on that list, and that’s John Bowker, who did it in 2008.

.........nobody in big league history (again, since 1919) had started a career with home runs in three consecutive games. “Come Friday, he’ll break it,” Lefebvre said of Pill. “He’ll be the first.” It won’t be easy. It never is against Clayton Kershaw. But at least Pill cleared one hurdle. Bruce Bochy already made up his mind to keep Pill in the lineup. “Hard not to start him the next game,” Bochy said.

This renders all your arguments invalid:
