Probably sounds good to most, until some of the fine print actually gets exposed....lol
The devil is always in the details, dude.

Most of the owners are being disingenuous from what I can tell....but again, also to be fair, so are some of the PA.

I knew the other shoe would drop when some of you started saying the players were to blame.

Manfred and the owners will not stop negotiating in bad faith. It's a pathetic game of bait and switch, then blaming the other side for not agreeing to new terms.

Fuck the greedy billionaires.

The players proposal looks a lot like the one the owners proposed yesterday. If that is the case, they should be able to work out the minor differences relatively easily.

They haven’t made shit for concessions. They have made “concessions” from their stand point but not from a real CBA or for the health of the game.

I hate the owners for paying stupid salaries.
I back most unions, but not GREEDY unions. (pro sports)

But the needy players are hurting (fans that is)

Jason Heyward made $333,333 PER HIT in 2021
Max Scherzer made $16,000 PER PITCH...........$21,000 in 2022
Mookie Betts made $183,000 PER HIT
Fransisco Lindor made $214,000 PER HIT
Garrett Cole made $199,000 PER INNING PITCHED
David Price made $795,000 PER APPEARANCE
etc....etc......etc.........

The owners will pay more for players.
The fans will pay the bills.
The dance goes on.

International draft needs to be a separate negotiation-that they can negotiate with camps open.

Stupid that they're cancelling games when it appears they've come to an agreement on just about everything else.

According to Evan Drellich of The Athletic, representatives for MLB and the MLBPA "intend to talk all day" on Thursday.

This is more encouraging than previous reports that stated there would be "no formal negotiations" between the two parties on Thursday. Even if the talks are only conducted via phone and no real proposals are made, it sure sounds pretty formal. Beyond the topic of an international draft, Drellich notes that gaps remain on other issues -- presumably the CBT thresholds and the pre-arbitration bonus pool. On we go.

According to Passan, both sides have agreed to a July deadline to figure out the Int'l draft.

We may be getting close to an announcement.

I just feel like baseball is fucked... its too complicated for its own good...

there is no reason international players should not be part of the normal rookie draft...

i just feel like the MLB wants to say we SAVED poor latino kids and brought them over from dangerous tides...

i still think baseball would do a huge favour for itself if they made one single rookie draft and made an age minimum of 20 or 21...

if they can find away to popularize college baseball that would be such a huge addition...

The minimum age of 20-21 will never happen. Way, waaaaaaayyy too many top prospects are straight out of HS and guys doing 1 year stops at JUCO's. Not to mention, the international signings who get brought in even younger than 18. Plus, there's a minor league system which typically takes multiple years to move through.

Even without the above facts. I don't see what good it would do anyway. What does it accomplish?

Free Agents could start signing as soon as today, if the deal is done. There will be quite a frenzy for GMs and agents to get everyone into camp. Not a lot of sleep for writers, GMs or agents.
