Multiple outlets report that the Major League Baseball Players Association has voted yes on the latest proposal from Major League Baseball.

The next step is for the proposal to be ratified by both parties, but as Passan points out, that appears to just be a formality. Evan Drellich of The Athletic reports that the players voted 26-12 in favor of the deal. As soon as the deal does receive that ratification, it appears free agency will be open, and spring training will finally begin. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the deal will see Opening Day on April 7, and that there will be 162 games with full nine-inning doubleheaders to make up for the lost time. The owner-initiated lockout lasted 99 days, but as Passan closes on his tweet: "Baseball is back."

Kind of a sad day, all the time wasted.
And it looks like the lockout settled very little.
EXCEPT.......The rich teams will still be better. (spending to the limit or over the CBT) The small market teams will still be looking incompetent.
It was a worthless waste of time.
And ORDINARY young players gained very little.
And now some of the owners / GMs, will be emboldened to spend more money in bigger contracts.
It will cost more money to run a team.
And guess who loses?
THE FANS will pay for this.

Zack Buchanan of The Athletic reports that there will be no Rule 5 Draft in 2022.

It's not a surprise, as ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan had reported that the event was on thin ice due to the lockout. The draft that everyone loves should be back in 2023, and since service-time rules haven't changed, it will be same as it ever was.

Nice. Not a huge fan of double headers since they tend to split but I'll be more than happy to sit in the pub and watch 6 hours of baseball

Travis Sawchik of The Score reports that the new Wild-Card format will feature best-of-three rounds before the League Divisional Series.

In the case of MLB and the MLBPA: They are, in fact, afraid of ghosts. With 12 teams now making the postseason -- up from 10 under the old format -- the Wild-card round will see the top two teams getting a bye, and the four teams that play will see a best-of-three format to advance to the LDS. Because of the new format, there will be no more tie-breaking games. If two teams tie with the same record, the berth will be determined by formulas similar to the NFL or NBA.

I will mourn the loss of the game 163, but that isn’t a deal breaker for me.

See I hated the 7 inning games but the man on second I didn't mind. Not a big fan of boring 15 inning games

My idea was play 3 regular extra innings. Once we get to the 13th then go to the man on 2nd gimmick

How do you feel about boring 9 inning games? Or boring 12 inning game? How about exciting 15 inning games? Or exciting 9 inning games?

Right, decent compromise. Maybe even just 2 innings...
