Precisely Rambunctious. This FO has done this one too many times. They made this big drama-filled splash about trading up to get a QB that was not even close to being ready and they implied he was going to be a franchise QB and then when asked, they backpedaled. What I am getting at is EVERYONE knows that these college players are rarely ready day one unless you have an exceptional talent.

Elway did it right. He moved up got Lynch and then stated that he is going to sit for a year or two behind butt-fumble and then go from there. Fisher can't make that claim because they had such drama going, he'd look like the jackass that he is and that is why Leeann Tweeden asked him point blank. This is more of the same BS and why we are the laughingstock of the NFL.

There isn't any point in promising he will be ready for game 1. If he is, great. If he isn't, it shouldn't be too long of a wait thereafter. Better to have him fully prepared than to rush the process.

I wouldn't bet on Lynch sitting the whole year either.

And honestly, whether he is ready or not, looking at the schedule, I'm not sure if starting him on the road, vs a NFC rival on MNF is such a wise thing anyway.

Let a Vet like Case start, it wont be the same microscope or pressure and we probably come out with a win.

I already lined out the scenario I like in the prediction thread, let Goff sit the first 4 weeks, then give him his first start in W5 at home against vs the Bills.

This way he has only 2 real road games in 7 NFL Weeks before the back to back road games @NOR & @NWE. (W5@LAR vs BUF; W6@DET; W7@Lon vs NYG; W8BYE; W9@LAR vs CAR; W10@NYJ; W11@LAR vs MIA) Then he goes into the back to back NOR & NWE road games with multiple starts behind him.

Also we have a Vet, in Case, starting in those early critical NFC West contests in the first 4 weeks of the season.

I wont be surprised at all if Fisher starts out the season this way.

You need to give SJ your plan regarding Goff cause apparently the Rams listen to him since they took Thomas late in the draft just like he wanted.

Dude, I and many others here are right with you on the trade up sentiments. Trust me, I thought they should have traded for Kaepernick or at the very least drafted Paxton Lynch at 15. I personally don't want Fisher to say they will have Goff ready by Week 1, because if he isn't, he will fail and we've just spent too much draft capital on this dude to let that happen
I understand completely. I don't watch a lot of college football. I do not know a lot about the QB's in question ie Goff, Wentz, etc so all I have to go on are highlights on youtube and how much hype a kid gets and how badly my team wants that kid. Giving up 6 or 7 picks to get Goff meant to me! that he is another Montana or Warner or Manning. Start him and have enough backbone to say it out loud or.......maybe Fisher just did another Fisher and he is slowly realizing it. He wants to play it safe, fine. Like I said I understand that. That is what he always does, If I were the head coach I would bring him in and make sure everyone knows in the locker room and out that he is the first pick in the draft and the leader of our team. That's just me.

Do we think Foles of Case will be better to help Goff?

Didn't Mannion tear up the PAC 12 also? he's had the Ram play book for over a year now, shouldn't he be "ready"?

Are we really comparing a 4 year starter who was drafted in the 3rd round to a 3 year starter who was drafted No. 1 overall?

There is a reason the 3 year PAC12 starter came out early and was drafted as the No. 1 Overall pick and also a reason why the 4 year PAC12 starter stayed his final year and was drafted as the 4th QB drafted overall & with the 89th pick in 2015 overall.

HAHA WHo knows? maybe they threw me a bone and took a 6th rounder.. I doubt they listen to my opinion on their #1 overall pick. I would think ANY coaching staff starts the best QB coming out of camp/pre-season.

The only PAC12 QB named Wilson, who may be drafted in the 3rd round as a 4th year QB starter, that I know of is Travis Wilson, so NO.

Well Vita, if Goff had already had his 3 years in last year he definitely wouldn't have gone number 1 last year, who knows he may have also gone in the 3rd as Mannion did. The only reason he was a number one pick is because the QB class is weak and we all know numerous so called experts say there is no franchise QB In this years class, and both the Rams and Eagles took a chance and reached with these picks.
So don't give me there's a reason Goff was the number one pick this year and Mannion was a 3rd rounder. One or both of these guys might turn out to be studs, but the overall consensus by many is that they are not franchise number 1 pick type QBs

 Now I know Red that I'm a big UCLA honk but Goff went to Cal, in the Bay area, an actual big brother rival with UCLA.

Right now, I'm a big Goff honk until proven otherwise. He is the Rams franchise QB. He may not be the starter off the bat but make no mistake, he is our future franchise QB.

It's true!

I can't discount the may have's, but on that same account, who knows, Goff may have gone ahead of Winston or Mariota last year as well.

Both Goff and Wentz are listed with a higher 'grading' than Mariota on NFL.com. (You know, that website you hold them stats in such high regard) And with the character issues surrounding Winston at the time, Goff could have jumped them both. (Gradings are listed at the end of each player list below & are in bold)

Winston, Jameis
QB 6'4" 231 Florida St. Pick 1, Round 1 (1) 2015 Buccaneers 6.7

Petty, Bryce
QB 6'3" 230 Baylor Pick 4, Round 4 (103) 2015 Jets 5.4

Frankly, from using the grading and draft selections on these lists, 2016 is actually a stronger QB class than 2015. And if Mannion was properly drafted this year, he may have gone in the 6th. round or later.

Lynch, Paxton
QB 6'7" 244 Memphis Pick 26, Round 1 (26) 2016 Broncos 6.1

The bottom line Smed, I think the writing is on the wall, the Rams drafted Mannion way too early. Just by his grading alone, he was more of a 6th rounder. (Does it really surprise you that we drafted this guy so high?)

With hindsight, Sean should have been drafted after Hundley at the very least and by that time, teams are usually picking need so he may have gone to the Pack but I doubt it as they saw Hundley as the BPA, who by many a so called expert, states was the steal of the draft as a 5th. rounder.

Honestly, if Mannion had shown the promise of some other recent 3rd rounder QB's (Ala Wilson & Cousins) He probably competes his way to the starting job at least by mid season. But if you can't beat out a Foles or a Kneenum after their performances last year, than why would you want him in there anyway?
