Ooops. It was 5th round. I put 3rd by accident. I wish it was a 3rd round pick. That would have been a really sweet deal

yeah, a 3rd sounded WAY too high for someone who hasn't played much. But a 5th is good assuming he meets the condition(s).

Do we still get charged with his cap hit, the signing bonus portion?

Haha. I was going to be shocked by a 3rd rounder. Still, a 5th is pretty good. I'm surprised we moved Carrier; I had figured he was in the thick of it to replace Davis, but McDonald has been showing pretty well lately. Maybe he's cementing his spot. Does Garrett Celek make the roster now? Or do we just go with three TEs?

I think we have 4 TEs make the 53 man roster VD, McDonald, Bell and Celek.

I really liked Carrier as well. But he needs work on his blocking. For that reason, I didn't see him as a replacement for Davis but more as a second receving option. I think the team wants their primary TE to ge a good blocker.

I've got to think we try to move a DL or two. As I see it, we've got at least eight guys who can make an NFL roster (Dorsey, Williams, Dial, Dockett, Carradine, Jerod-Eddie, Purcell, Armstead). I can't see us keeping more than seven on the roster. I think TJE is the most likely trade bait. He's got enough track record for a team to want him, and he plays at arguably our deepest position.

I think so too. We would have ended up having to cut a tight end by the end of camp anyway which would have netted us nothing

Most 49er fans liked him. He is a converted wide receiver. I think he can be a really good receiving tight end. He made some really nice catches last year before getting injured. We liked him compared to Vance McDonald who dropped the ball too much. He really needs to work on his blocking and just getting used to playing the position

Damn a 5th rd pick is awesome for a guy we would of cut. i will take it. I would of traded them VM for a 2nd or 3rd then if they gave a 5th for Carrier
