Granted, a lot of his value comes from his glove, and that, I don’t think was affected by Denver. But don’t expect to be getting an MVP-level bat.
No to Wong. Edman will provide good D and better, switch hitting offense at minimum wage.
Sure, anything is possible. There is a solid argument to be made that the splits compounded for the Rockies because they adapt to hitting at that field, so it is completely different on the road. Once his home field is a regular park the it will even out and still be a solid bat.
LeMahieu's splits had been just as extreme and he has been just fine.
So rockies send Arenado, still pay a quarter of his remaining g salary, and don't take back even a top 5 prospect from the cardinals system?
and here I was thinking it was a salary dump.... In a way it is but still sending the much money...
They like being the Marlins. The Rockies are well aware that they don't have to have a good team to have good attendance. Because they don't have to compete they are happy to be the rest of baseballs farm team and rake in the cash. They have never won the division, but over the last decade they never ranked below 13 in attendance, and spent most of it around 6th.
Na, The same concerns had been there for Lemahieu. The issue is when your daily stadium is Coors you adapt to that as your default, every other stadium is significantly different. One his default stadium is like all of the others his splits will be normal, his BA may drop some, but still be good.Apparently his road splits are worrisome.
So the Cards basically get a year of Arenado for free. Minus the middling prospects I guess.
What a dumpster fire the Colorado front office is.
They like being the Marlins.
Arenado will likely see a BABIP drop like most players that have left the Rockies, but I think he'll be fine. Matt Holliday hit .287/.374/.485 with a 138 OPS+ after getting traded by Colorado (he hit .319/.387/.550 with a 131 OPS+ as a Rockie). He had a career .384 BABIP at Coors Field and he had a .317 BABIP after the trade. I'd say Holliday did just fine post-Coors.
