Jerome Williams is up today. He has pitched pretty well so far for the Phils.

Carpenter draws a walk and that is not a good thing to start an inning and a side.

Sizemore is in for Byrd in right field today. Not too much of a drop-off with that substitution.

Brown will be tested again in left field today. If he screws up today, they should bench him and try Ruf for two weeks. It's really hard to say if even Ruf is up for the task since Ryno has not really stuck with him for more than a game or two. Brown is one of the more disappointing stories of the season.

Great play by Asche and the defense gets Williams out of the side with no runs.

I so agree jvett. Ruf really needs a manager to believe in him just like they did with Asche. I still say we are a better ballclub with Ruf in the lineup than with him out of it.

Wild pitch sends Revere, who drew the walk, to second. This is the second time in this series that Revere gets onto second from a wild pitch and we simply cannot get him home in this scoring position. This has been the pattern all year.

If Sandberg would add Asche to the lineup mix between positions 2-4, it would disrupt this pattern of no or low offense from Rollins, Utely, and Howard. Case in point: Utley is 2-21 in the home stand. That is pathetic!

Finally, Utley gets a base hit and Revere scores. 1-0 Phils.

This homeplate ump has a terrible strike zone. That was a ball just like the Utley pitch.

Williams get K number 2 and pitches his way out of the Cardinals threatening with runners on second and third. Williams is still pitching pretty well.

That sounds like Dom Brown. Making excuses for screwing up catching a fly ball and then attributing that failure to not playing everyday when he plays nearly everyday. Typical.

Very nice base hit by Asche for a base hit and sending Brown to third. Frikkin' Brown says he plays hard every time he plays. Huh? That's BS as that replay of him running to third looked like he was out for a jog in the park. Playing hard, my ass!! Excellent bunt by Williams to get Mr. Playing Hard home. Phils up 2-0.
