It's hard to tell. Both have proved hot and cold in the playoffs. I would likely go with Varly simply because he's been hotter more often then Theo recently.

I really don't know, myself. I didn't think they should have gone away from Theo after game 2, but I didn't question that after Varly's game 3 and 4 performances, but now I really don't know

It's got me wondering who Sutter could pluck off the Caps for Kipper...or potentially a package deal. Backstrom and Fehr for Kipper and Regehr.

You can't be serious?

We'll give you Alex Semin for a cup of yogurt and some napkins. How about that? : )

Varly wasn't great, but he didn't cost them the game, and Theodore hasn't played in a while. Also, Varlamov played two game 7s last year, although the 2nd one didn't go so well.

I agree with ritari. I think Theo earned himself a longer rope than one game with the way he played this year and especially the last 25 games or so. I was surprised that Budreau went away from him so quickly.

Theo is obviously a good person and team player but I would imagine that he's not real happy about it. At least on the inside.

I couldn't believe that Boudreau was even debating this. Varly didn't have a great game, but Theo hasn't played in awhile, and Varly wasn't absolutely awful.

I'd play Varlamov. The fact of the matter is that you're not going to win very many games in the playoffs only scoring 1 goal as the Caps have done in both games 5 and 6. I know Varlamov wasn't spectacular, but Theodore would not have won either game. The Caps must score more goals to win, goaltending is not the issue.

I don't think he was debating it. Pretty sure Varlamov will start game 7. Boudreau was just trying to stir it up (in a really strange way, IMHO)

When I look at game 7 I just cant say the Caps will lose, no matter who plays in net. All season long they have dominated and it would be hard for me to believe it if they lost. Yeah Varly had a bad game 7 last year, but that was last year, I know he has matured and learned from it. We will see very soon.
