I could see MAF getting bought out because it would only be 1.9 mill per for 4 years ... dont see the Luongo buyout happening at all because of the dollars going out the door ... maybe Pens get him dirt cheap in a trade though

There was a special category of buyout in the CBA. See Montreal with Gomez:

Montreal Canadiens Salary Cap Chart

Believe it counts towards the players' share of Hockey Related revenue, but does not count against the salary cap.

From the article:

Shockingly, apparently Mark Messier is also gay.

Must have been that short stint with the Canucks.

/Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Big, bald man who swings a stick a lot and cries at the drop of a hat? Duh.

I hope this is a joke, but a cousin of my wife's frequently cites the Onion before going on Tea Partyish rants on facebook... soooo

Messier rumour has been around for many years. Glen Anderson too.

they just seem to be making all the right moves lately :L

With the Canucks needing to shuttle their players in from Utica next season, they may want to consider having a chartered jet on standby in New York state.

Otherwise, this won’t be easy.

Need an emergency call up here for Friday? You’re staring at a nine-hour trip, across three time zones, including the hour drive from Utica to the Syracuse airport.

Friday’s most ideal flight, which includes a layover in Toronto because there’s none direct to YVR, leaves Syracuse at 7:30 a.m. That should mean a 4 a.m. wake-up call.

It could make it challenging to get the 10-hour night’s rest their sleep doctor recommends.

Consider that this year, the Cancuks chose to move their team across the continent into a 53-year-old facility that isn’t up to AHL standards than pay off the Flames. Meanwhile, Abbotsford will keep the Heat, even though the already low attendance (3778 a game during the NHL’s lockout season) could get worse.

The Utica Memorial Auditorium seats 3,800 for hockey and is line for $2.25 million in state funds. The money is desperately needed to repair the crumbling facade, for curb appeal, and to update some of the interior, including locker rooms. The funding still has not been finalized and only part of the work was expected to be done by the end of this year.
