Canucks aren't talking with Lapierre's agent. He's UFA. Good bye.

with the drop in salary cap, this year is going to be a complete write off.
they can't afford the $2-3 million player.

it'll be 2 lines of 'core' and 2 lines of AHL. the only hope is some serious contribution by players on ELC deals.
which also underlines the stupidity of burning a year of Corrado's ELC for 2 games.

I can't believe it. My Worst nightmare as an Islanders fan could possibly happen. Apparently according to MacKenzie the Islanders would be interested in Luongo under the right circumstances if they can't resign Nabokov. Speculation of a Dipietro plus something else for Luongo deal. Vancouver would save something like 3M.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!:L

I'm going to go cry in a corner & pray that this doesn't happen now.

Wang is one cheap S.O.B.. The Isles did something similar with Trent Hunter. The Islanders didn't want to buy him out so they traded him to NJ for Brian Rolston. They got 1 year of Rolston at 5M. NJ bought out the final 2 years of Hunter's contract. Hunter was making 2M per. The Devils needed cap space after the Kovalchuk signing. They got what they needed from the Islanders.

I have a bad feeling about this. Is there any chance Luongo would say no to a trade to the Islanders?

Apparently if the Canucks were to use the compliance buyout on Dipietro they would save 5,333,333 in cap space per year. Resigning the Sedins would be much easier that's for sure.

Now I'm really worried.

Call me crazy, but if the Isles would have had Luongo between the pipes instead of Nabokov, they might have upset the Penguins. It's a toss-up between Fleury and Nabokov for worst performance by a goalie in that series.

They might have. I think it would have gone 7 games for sure. The Isles couldn't hold the lead in the 3rd because of Nabby.

I have no idea what else would go Vancouver's way in the deal, but I don't expect it would be much. Vancouver wants to rid themselves of Luongo's contract & Wang doesn't want to buyout Dipietro. Sounds like a match made in (HELL) I mean HEAVEN.:L
