So 32 franchises, with thousands upon thousands of various employees involved over the years that largely change like m&m's, have apparently managed to maintain a massive secret of the entire league being rigged? There have been no significant leaks from ANYONE, even in the age of the internet for the past 20+ years, let alone social media and mobile devices of the past decade? This isn't even taking into account just how much more complex and elaborate such a massive scandal would need to be beyond all of that considering the amount of Vegas gambling money surrounding the games.

Bad calls happen as a result of human error in officiating, and it's unfortunate. But there's zero logic to think that there's some wide scale fraud going on in the NFL to rig what happens. If it's all fixed, either Roger Goodell has had one hell of a time keeping the Patriots down, or it's all even more elaborate than anyone could have imagined, with him and Belichick/Brady/Kraft secretly being good buddies behind the scenes.

Time to put the tinfoil hats down and spend less time rotting in the basement, folks.

Rigging a competitive event doesn't require everyone involved. Or a majority. Only a handful. Or one, if it's the right one.

Nearly every sport, at every level, has been rigged at some point. Most without much of any fanfare.

Everyone has a price. And it's often disappointingly low. You are very nieve.

You ignored all of my other points. Anyway, it all boils down to the money. What would the incentive be for "a handful" of higher ups in the NFL to let the Patriots be so dominant for nearly 20 years now? Wouldn't there be more money to be made by switching them out more often, including keeping them out of the AFCC games, for teams that people are less tired of seeing dominate?

If it's all rigged, then why do the N.Y. Jets only have 1 Superbowl from back in the 60's, but have mostly sucked otherwise? Why has the city of L.A. only gotten 1 Superbowl title so far between the 3 teams to be in the city over the years (Rams, Raiders, Chargers)? Why hasn't Dallas, arguably the most popular team in the league outside of the United States, been to a Superbowl since the mid-90's? Why hasn't Miami been in the Superbowl since the 80's, while only winning 2 total? Why has a big market like Chicago only played won 1 and played in 2? Philly with just 1? What made the league decide to have the wort overall team in the history of the league, the Tampa Bay Bucs, randomly win one in the 2002 season, only to promptly continue sucking afterwards? Why is a small market like Green Bay tied for 3rd place in total SB wins with 4?

Besides all of that, where exactly do you draw the line with these elaborate stage jobs by the league? Does that also account for why the Lions have been hot garbage and one of the worst teams since their inception in 30's?

Dan Goodes was found dead in his hometown of New York City in what early reports described as an “gangland-style execution”, hours after blowing the whistle on the “rigged Super Bowl” backstage at a promotional event in Minneapolis.

Early reports claim the 49-year-old was found shot dead in a 2017 BMW 2 Series, along with one other man, believed to be a close friend.

Goodes, an entertainment lawyer who worked at the National Football League’s Park Avenue headquarters, had been representing the NFL in Minneapolis, working alongside Eagles and Patriots franchise staff on promoting Sunday’s Super Bowl featuring the two teams.

However Goodes went “off-script” in Minneapolis and was “physically removed” from the premises by security staff, but not before publicly condemning the NFL as “totally corrupt” and claiming the Super Bowl is “fixed.”

Telling reporters that he is a “football fan first and foremost, and a lawyer second”, Goodes said “Football in America in 2018 doesn’t need another rigged Super Bowl. We need a great match. Not another rigged result that doesn’t pass the sniff test.

“I like money as much as the next guy. But I like football more. I can’t stand by and allow rampant greed and cynicism to destroy the game I love. The little boy in me won’t allow it.

“Football in America won’t recover from this.”

“This is the biggest scam in sports history,” Goodes said in Minneapolis, according to reports. “The Super Bowl is already completely scripted out.”

“How do I know it’s scripted? I’ve read the damn thing.“

“You need to understand the NFL is a $35 billion shared revenue corporation. Outcomes can’t be left to chance. Total league revenues are shared equally by all franchises, so they don’t care who wins or loses. Let me be perfectly clear here. It doesn’t matter to the franchise owners. It doesn’t matter to the players. But it matters to the league. Outcomes have been fixed to maximize profits ever since my early days here.”

You might be having more of a conversation with yourself than with me. I'm not promoting any specific conspiracy theory. Just that sporting events not being on the up and up is, has been and always will be something that happens. Anyone that can profit is a suspect.

I'm not selling the idea of the script being written all the time in the NFL.

The Lions survive off the success of other teams and tribalism. It's a miserably ran franchise. But "one of the worst teams since their inception is the 30's" isn't very accurate. They're up there in current shittines, fer ser. Awful. The'll keep a guy on the roster for a decade, cuz his moms is a receptionist. Hell, the current President is the family accountant. Not many professional sports franchises are on their level of futility, but that's merely the Ford Era. Which is a couple generations..... but still, there's no reason to disrespect Doak Walker.

It's possible.

The NBA had a situation last decade or so ago and a ref ended up going to jail when all was said and done.

A complete league-wide conspiracy? No.

A handful fixing games here and there for their own personal gain?

Not at all far-fetched.

Let's assume it's all in fact staged, or at least that the biggest games are. If that's what you believe, then what is it that makes you so serious about the NFL? What's the point of getting worked up about the outcomes of games if the biggest ones are all predetermined by whatever the powers that be of the league decide is most profitable?

handi - weren't you one of the Patriots fans in another thread who was talking about how much pride you had in the Patriots' Superbowl titles? Either way, why would you think of those championships any differently than a WWE fan bragging about their favorite pro wrestlers winning WWE championship belts?

Why do any of you even frequent a message board about the NFL if it's just another version of the WWE? If that's really the way any of you feel, then your level of caring as a fans of the league makes absolutely zero sense... of all the sports to pick from, you choose one where the biggest outcomes are always staged and the games are 60 minutes of in-game action and 2 1/2 hours of various breaks like commercials? Lol, come on...

I'm not arguing that there couldn't be the occasional game that gets negatively affected by a crooked ref/officiating crew or whatever. I'm only addressing the people espousing the idea that the league itself is consistently predetermining which outcomes they'd prefer in certain games and rigging them accordingly. The first concept is obviously entirely plausible, but the latter simply doesn't make sense from a pure standpoint of logistics. If the top powers of the NFL were literally fixing the biggest outcomes, the Patriots wouldn't have made it all the way to most of the AFC Championships and half of the Superbowls for the past 2 decades. There's zero way that would be their most profitable angle for so long.

No, I'm a Cowboys fan. My pride is in the gutter.

Let's put it this way...if 10 years from now, a scandalous story broke out claiming that the NFL has been corrupt for decades, I wouldn't be surprised. There are many forms of "rigging" as you put it. Certain games, certain calls, certain punishments towards individual players...it's all possible. the NFL is a HUUUUUGE corporation and as we all know, big corporations are shady as f***. Every player, coach, official, owner, etc. doesn't have to be in on it. You're naïve to think otherwise.

When you are blowing obvious stuff with replay and not publicly admitting things going wrong. You are probably condoning It or actively behind it.

Overview of fixing games in the NFL...The NFL is far and away the most lucrative sports league in the world, and has comfortably displaced MLB as America's sports past time.

imo, the owners have too much to lose for there to be some type of wide spread fixed outcome of the games. One reason the owners have long been against having a team in LV was to keep teams and players as far away from gambling temptation as possible.

That said, are we to believe that EVERY game is on the up and up? In a world full of corruption, and greed, I think that would be a very naïve position to take.
