The extensive nationwide search was only for the GM. The president is nothing but a numbers guy, who has successfully run business for the Ford family already.

For what it is worth. Accorsi has been the go to consultant in the NFL when searching for a GM.
He has done this for quite a few teams and all were limited to 3 or 4 interviews before finding the best candidate.

A serious fan like yourself, I'd think you would know accorsi is also on the NFL career placement committee, which studies front office candidates all year round. So I'm thinking he has a good idea of who to trust and who not to. Oh yeah, Accorsi also is the guy who gave this no name coach his first NFL head coaching job (Bill Belichick)

I'm just a casual fan though, so I don't know much

I'm just messing with you. Everyone wants to be skeptical of the Lions even when they bring in one of the best in the business to run their search. And even when we hire a guy who spent 14 years working with Belichick and the Patriots we still question him

And I'm just messing with you. We all know who Accorsi is and what he's accomplished.

It's starting to look like an announcement on Caldwell may not come today. They may want today's focus to be solely on Quinn being hired.

This thing has more twists and turns than a Tom Lewand morning drive

Would actually be surprised based on what I've heard now, if Lions did target a Pats coordinator should Caldwell be let go

I'm not concerned with who is really coaching. Your guy, my guy, somebody else's. Not concerned on being right as much as BQ is right guy and he does right. I want to win.

We'll all hope for the best no matter who it is, correct? Not a Josh fan at all, hope he's a winner that proves me wrong if it is him.

I don't have a guy, but I can find reasons to defend McD just like Chip Kelly, whether we hire him or not. Who is your guy?

Smitty's guy is Mayhew, I mean Caldwell. Same guy anyways.

Caldwell doesn't seem like the type of man to play puppet for one year. I'm sure he has plans for himself and his family that don't include dangling in the wind.

He doesn't have to play puppet. Win, and be retained.

Exactly why I believe he will be let go. 20-28 career HC record without Peyton. I don't think his career body of work shows a guy capable of winning big.

I don't care about Caldwell, but I want to retain Cooter as OC. Stafford is finally playing well, the offense is playing well/clicking, and there's no need to start over with a new system and a new play-caller, and labor through the growing pains that come with it. We'll see whether Quinn's ego will allow him to realize it and do the right thing. If Quinn is willing to replace Caldwell but retain Cooter nonetheless, then I'm fine with that.

I want to see what Cooter can do with an offseason and certainly want Austin back.

What I do not understand is why Quinn does not interview some guys and then decide if they are better than Caldwell or not or if they do not accept then bring Caldwell back? Why cut him loose with out having an agreement from someone else.

He is also 18-14 in two season in Detroit, which is the most wins in his 1st two years of any head coach for Detroit in the modern era.

Selfishly I want to see him gone, as I don't think he is the coach that will take Detroit to the next level. I think it needs to be a coach somewhere in between Schwartz (hot head with no control over the team) and Caldwell (No emotion at all, but players love him).

I'm not paid to make these type of decisions, so it is nothing more than opinion. I respect the fact Quinn has stated he is going to talk with players and coaches before making a decision.

He got the Lions to the playoffs in his first year and won 6 out of 8 to close the season. He should be retained in my opinion.
