Yankees may be out of the running for Rodon.

Unfortunately, Montas was probably a more enticing get for teams. His performance this year was not quite to Rodon’s level, but he was only making 5M as compared to Rodon’s 21.5M and Montas is still under team control next year.

And he ended up netting Waldichuk plus a few other pieces (essentially what I would have expected for Rodon). I seriously doubt the Spanks would be willing to part with Volpe now for an expensive rental (granted, a game 1 starting, expensive rental).

Spme of my old NY friends are under the impression that the NYY will make a last minute run at Soto. They feel that Judge is gone but that Soto is more than enough to fill the bill. They also think that Volpe will be part of the package.

Meanwhile, San Diego just landed Josh Hader from the Brewers.

That dude is having an AWFUL season. first 19 appearances 0.00 ERA since, ERA over 8.

and they gave up the other Rogers AND prospects.

WTF are the Fraudres doing??

Yup. Volpe is off the table.

Since his amazing start…

18 g, 16.1 IP, 16 ER, 31K, 6BB

but if remove his blow up against us (.1 IP, 6 ER) it is still bad, but not epic bad (16 IP, 10 ER).

I would still feel comfortable with him as our closer over Doval.

I would be AOK with that. That would put some pressure on Luciano to stick at short, though. And then what do we do with Schmidt?

My thoughts too... but honestly the last few times I've seen him on the telly he got rocked.
The more you look at the trade, the less crazy it looks. He has had a rough couple months and they have a closer-in-waiting. They made the decision to do a quick sell-high on him, and they got a nice bounty for him.

What are you talking about? He has swung 2 trades in 2 days. The man is BUSY!

What, has the market gone dry on weak hitting middle infielders? Gotta be some more out that for FZ to wheel and deal for.

I had hoped we'd get something for Rodon. Perhaps he plays out the year and re-signs? He has been awesome this season.

Seriously, I would want NOTHING to do with playing for that man. Sure, the money is good, but living under that system would be hell.

I think we all have started to question what this regime is actually doing. Most are questioning FZ 'churn' process and a few are starting to question some of Kap's decisions.

Hatd to argue with last year's 107 wins and an assiciated MOY. But starting to realize that last year was an aboration. It was a magical year ... but not sure it really was a true reflection of that team's talent.

I personally hate the churn process and still fail to see the value behind all of this turnover. I'm also not a real fan of Kap but I also think a lot of what he does may be not be his vusion. I'm not sure how much freedom he really has.

I hope we actually start to do something worthwhile with trades.
I'm not holding my breath on anything meaningful happening today. Probably FZ just trading for a middle infielder that is not hitting worth a lick in high A ball and he dfa's someone like Jason Vosler to add that player to the 40 man roster.
