Well, that's as good as it gets as a hockey fan. Double OT, your team's season on the line, holding your breath on every shot, counting down each second of a penalty kill, posts for each team.... it was great hockey, but the Bruins clinched it out and in all likelihood, a trip to the cup finals.

Nothing to take away from the Bruins right now. They are playing stellar, starting with Rask, a defence that has limited PGH to 2 goals, nothing on the powerplay, and nothing from the big guns.

Meanwhile, at the other end, despite Vokoun giving the Pens their best goaltending in years, the Bylsma-led defence continues to play seemingly without a system. They are battling, but again, I see players left wide open while Letang (or whoever) is covering nobody. And on offense, no adjustments. No powerplay goals, and Iginla is still not getting first-unit time. What was he brought in for?

Whether we get swept, or even push this series a bit, Bylsma has to go. If the new coach can't fix things up, Shero needs to shake things up.

Bitching about this and that won't do me any good, so I won't. They're just empty excuses.

The bottom line is that there has been 215mins of Hockey played in this series. Pittsburgh has 2 goals and 0-12 on the PP.

Sometimes teams look destined and right now, that team looks to be Boston.

All I can do is continue to shake my head and say for the 105th time in the last 12hrs..."are you fucking kidding me??"

Impossible for the Bruins to lose this series. Absolutely no way they could blow it.

11-2 goal advantage for the Bruins in the series. I would have never in a million years thought this would happen.

Course that could even up in game 4 in a heartbeat

I will go out on a limb and say this... Letang is not playing like he deserves a big raise. With one more year on his contract, the Pens will try and low ball him this off season, he will not sign the deal in hopes next regular season his play will warrant a raise for him. With the depth of D prospects the Pens have, I am changing my tune now... Letang will be traded next year. I thought it would be Malkin, since Letang (playing well) is harder to replace (Pens already have Sid, no other Norris trophy candidate). But, he is not doing himself any favors this postseason, and the Pens will use that against him in negotations... he will go to UFA the following year (unless the Pens trade him).

I still have no idea why Paul Martin is not on top power play. He is smart, confident, and is calming.

Iggy has been a bust. I know he had that long point streak, but I wonder if they were mostly 2ndary assists on the PP. I see no real hustle, he is predictable in his forecheck, and 'heart' after a whistle does not score goals. I hope there is no attempt to resign number 12.

19 should get more playing time, he finds himself open, and creates. (another tune I have changed, I originally thought 12 would be playing like he wants to win, not deserves to win).

No puck luck for 14 and 9.

And as always you have to give the Bruins all the credit.

Iggy has been misused. You can tell he's uncomfortable playing on the left wing, and he should be. He's been on the right side his whole career, and just about the best in the league at it during that stretch.

He's hesitant because Bylsma has him out of position. And he made a line of three trigger men. That never works.

Iggy hasn't been great, but it doesn't help when Bylsma is playing him out of position and with different linemates from one game to the next. Pens PP was clicking when Iggy was on the 1st PP unit, not sure why Jarome isn't getting more PP time. The effort was better from all the Pens top guys last night, Rask is just unbelievable between the pipes for Boston.

/I think unrealistic expectations have also been placed on Iggy, he's not the same player that he used to be.

I'm hearing that Letang wants close to 7mil. for his next contract. Not sure how he can justify that when his play is so inconsistant, especially on the PP and in the playoffs. He can look great all he wants in the regular season but when you look like shit the most important time the season, you don't have much leverage in negotiations.

:agree:

When the Pens were steamrolling my Sens it seemed weird but understandable. Now that the wheels are coming off I just don't see why a change in Iggy's usage has not been explored more thoroughly.

Also Bylsma must know Iggy's history. This guy generally thrives on more work. His performance dips the more sparingly he's used. Keep throwing him out there and see if he goes beast.

Bylsma is a hell of a coach but I don't see what he's doing here. IMO, he's not using the resources available to him to their fullest. :2cents:

I recently read somewhere that a shot from the point has about 1-2% chance of going in... is that true?

Chance of injury from being hit by puck is greater?

Therefore nobody should ever attempt to block a shot.

Discuss.

This is why I fucking love hockey players. Guy has a fucking broken leg and is still trying to compete.

What other athlete in a sport does that?

I would love to see what site this is from.

You have guys who can one time a slapper at 100+ and fire with very good accuracy. Getting hit with one of those even on the pads is gonna hurt a lot.
